Maybe this is a dumb question, but has anybody here ever tried installing Photoshop 5.5 on the Vista OS? Did it work?

Yes I have it installed, and i've experienced no problems. But I am a light user.
I use it for fun, and for slight editing. Nothing more than that.

I've just realised you quoted version 5.5! That's quite old that version is it not?

I am not sure about Photoshop 5.5 as that is a pretty old version, but I can confirm that Photoshop CS2 does work great in Vista. Photoshop CS3 is the first version to have official support for Vista.

Works fine under XP (yeah, I'm still using 5.5), I would guess that you could run it under Vista using XP compatibility mode if needed.

Thank you all very much for your replies. I went ahead and took the gamble. Purchased a Toshiba laptop and it installed 5.5 without a hitch. 5.5 is an old version of the Windows 98 2nd edition era. I knew it worked with XP but wasn't sure about Vista
