I'm using remote desktop to control my server box, rather than using a separate monitor and keyboard for it. I have a desktop shortcut to the Remote Desktop Connection app, but every time I click it, I have to confirm that my server is the computer I want to remote into. I understand why this is there, it's quite obvious, but I was wondering if there's a way for it to bypass that screen so that whenever I click the Remote Desktop shortcut, it just automatically remembers which one I was using, and the credentials used, and just go straight to bring up the remote desktop window, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

Click the Options button, and use Save As to save a shortcut to the server. I'm writing this on an XP machine but I believe the Vista RDP client works the same way.

That is incorrect, vista has an added layer of protection, allowing you to use certificates to ensure there has been no dns redirection or various other attacks, you can easily disable this by right clicking your icon and selecting edit, then on the last tab of this window you will find the server verification options.

I'm sitting here at work right now, but as soon as I get home, I'll take a look at that. Since the server is in the same subnet (192.168.1.x) I'm not worried about DNS redirection. Thanks!

Is your shortcut to just the program, or is it an RDP file?

I think this is what you're looking for:

Just apply that to your RDP file, and use said file for connecting. Save it per Beavis' instructions.

Still at work (sigh), but I'm pretty sure I have that option set. It's just the shortcut to the remote desktop app, which brings up that windows you screenied.

I'm not _sure_ if that's enough. When/if you ever get home, try setting that to "don't warn," and fill in other shtuff (server address etc.), and save it to an rdp file. Then you can (should) just use that file to connect, and it will (should) take you right to your remote desktop.

Lol, I'm a dumb. Just got home. I never noticed the save RDP portion. Saved it, and cleared the warnings, all is well now.

I'm a dumb. I can't brain. :P
