I bought Counter Strike Source Retail recently, was so excited to get home and start playing online. But to my surprise i got the "Duplicate Product Code" error when trying to activate my code on Steam. This was a big disappointment to me. Its sad how people steal product keys, and pay nothing, and then i go and spend money on it, doing it the legal way, and then it just doesn't work.

So i Went to Steam Support site and posted a Question, Sending them the CD key reset request with photos of my CD key on the DVD case, and proof of purpose etc.

That was on Friday, and i haven't gotten a reply yet, and im starting to get a bit worried.

Do you think there is hope for me in this situation?

I would call them. Email can be a slow process.

there is no contact information like that on there website, it looks like they only do support over email

If they are using an automatic support system, you should have gotten an email from them almost immediately. Make sure you did, else your SPAM filters could be blocking them.

No, I've gotten an email from them saying, Thank you for submitting your question to our staff. We will respond to your question by email.

Dont worry they will take care of it.It may take a few days since everyone is off for labor Day.But as long as you paid for the game there is no way they could say you used a bad key if they assigned the product key to you.Vave will take care of it.

Ok, thanks for your reassurance. i just wish their support would be a bit faster, but i guess just as long as they sort it out, it will be fine

Hey, I'm starting to get quite worried, Steam still haven't replied or done anything about my request.

You should be worried if by 1 week you still haven't gotten a response, you should try emailing them again though or better yet contacting them by telephone.

They aren't reachable by phone. I too would give them until next week Monday. If they don't resolve it by then, demand a refund.

Hey guys, got home last night, and the problem was resolved, they emailed me and added the key to my account and everything, i guess patience pays
