Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will star in a US$300 million marketing campaign for Microsoft aimed at burnishing the image of its computer operating system.....

Jesus, I hope Bill doesn't try to pull any jokes in these ads, he doesn't have the voice/vibe for that sort of thing.

The alleged name of this campaign is said to be "Windows, not Walls."

I can see it now:

Seinfeld: "What's the deal with Windows? They got windows, where are the walls? Don't you need a wall in order to place a window? And what about ceilings?"

*groan*

I'll watch them, though. I'm a huge Seinfeld fan.

Seinfeld without Kramer = painfully dumb. Not to mention annoying.

Perhaps Gates will be dressed as Superman, coming to 'save' us from Linux? ;)

I just saw the Bill Gates + Seinfeld commercial, like 10 min ago. Pretty cool, yet I think it's a little too deep... still trying to get what's a well worn shoe has to do with Windows? Nothing anti-Apple in it, though.

It's about time M$ come out with some ads. Those Anti-PC commercials from Apple is getting more and more annoying!

Edit: Ha, here you go. Actually a longer version than I saw. $300 million for that, WTF? ;)

I think these commercials will make more sense when we see more of them. The first one is just to get you interested, catch your attention and make you wonder what it is about.

No more:

SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- TV viewers can return to their favorite programs without fear of seeing Bill Gates shaking his tushie now that Microsoft Corp. has retired a bizarre two-week-old ad campaign featuring the software giant's chairman with comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

Bloggers and online media have suggested that the Redmond, Washington-based company yanked the Seinfeld ads after they were poorly received. The ads show Gates and Seinfeld trading banter at a mall shoe store and while living with a suburban family, trying to get in touch with regular people. Seinfeld asks Gates nonsensical questions about the future of computing, and Gates responds with "signs" that he's on the right track, including "adjusting his shorts," as Seinfeld called the awkward hip shake, and doing "the robot," a dance move.

The reason why it wasn't "well received" is that it pertained nothing to what it was trying to market. Pathetic that they dropped 14 mil on Jerry just for that. I could have done all that, plus come up with a script that would make sense. Even better, they should have done sort of crossover between Jerry and their new "I'm a PC" counter ads. How lame. Move along...

If Microsoft can drop $14M on a sad sack marketing initiative that they stop after 2 weeks, mayhap they can send me one tenth of that for my 20 years of supporting them and their products.

Well Jerry Seinfeld is well know for doing a TV show About Absolutely Nothing using his own name as the title. So it's not surprising to see a couple of TV ads from him, again about absolutely nothing! ;)

Seriously though, I think M$ is vastly off target with these pointless ads. Someone in the marketing department is f**ked up, and need to be fired for wasting company money. Though there are plenty to waste, for now. ;)

I would rather want to see ads that talk about M$ OSs and software directly, even though it may be boring for some. See now not only these ads can Not offset Apple's false anti-PC ads campaign, but also may make people lose interest of M$ products. I hate to see 10 years down the road, every dumb f**k in the street will be using Apple products, 'cause it's "cool" and "just works", M$? don't know what the f**k it's about... :|

Well the new "I'm a PC" ads are a bit better. Hope M$ keep the good ones coming. Bye, bye, Seinfeld!
