Heres a odd one i've had for some time just never really bothered me

My PC clock runs fast.

Started a few months back where it'd gain maybe 2 minutes a day and then id put it back again. Then is mysteriously stops doing that for maybe a month and over the last week its been doing it again but gaining about 6 minutes a day.

Its overclocked ever so slightly although i doubt thats the cause and its lived through multiple installs of XP and Linux.....

Any ideas?

How often do you power off your computer? You may just need a new clock battery.

Check for any temporal distortions in the time-space continuum near you... you see if the battery is going dry, the clock will slow down, not speeding up! There must be an anomaly somewhere...

Well I'm not sure as to the cause, but setting your NTP client to update once every hour would be a simple workaround.
