hi all

i recently decided to build a new machine

asus p5q deluxe - new
intel core 2 extreme 6850 - 8 months old
ocz 1010 watt psu
hitachi sata 500 gig hd
4 gig ddr2 1066 ram

i ran short of money so i bought the cheapest pci-e card i could get to test the parts (nvidia 7200 gs)

after installing all the hardware i plugged the graphics card into the universal pcie slot and booted up. I heard the hard drive going but my monitor was displaying "no vieo input". I moved the card into the pcie 2.0 x16 slot but still the same message. At the moment im using the vga port as my dvi lead is faulty.

is this a graphics card problem or could it be anything else, there are no error beeps on start up so im puzzled?

thanks

No beeps could be a bad thing and a good thing. Beeps indicate that the motherboard and the processor are working, but something else is not being detected such as video card or RAM. No beeps could indicate that the motherboard has not detected the CPU due to a bad CPU or incompatibility.

Any chance you could borrow another PCI-E Card? Also, try resetting the BIOS to see if it starts up with factory default settings.
