I'm working on anewer Gateway laptop, don't know th eexact model, won't have it in front of me until this evening... Replaced a cracked LCD screen, the owner says it worked fine except for th ecracked screen. After replacing the screen, I powered the notebook up, and the red LED on the component side if the inverter blinks 4 times, while the power LED blinks 5 times, and everything quits. I plugged in the backlight from the old LCD panel and it does the same thing. It won't power up even with an external monitor, and the placement of the inverter's LED tells me it's something designed to be seen by the service tech, and not the everyday user. Any thoughts, anybody? This thing is driving me up the wall.:~
