My current rig is approaching the 3yr old marker in a couple months. Iam now starting to save money for a a whole new rig which I'll be able to build myself early next year. But for the mean time im wondering if i could boost my current cpu (AMD Athlon 64 3700+) to something a bit more powerful.
My question is, does anyone know what the max cpu this mobo can support? Ive seen some peoples signatures in the -Asus A8n-SLI- sticky up top with X2 processors (3800 is what I saw), im guessing they flashed their bios to support dual core or am I wrong? Anyways, reason im doing this is because if i can find an X2 4xxx / FX it would only cost about $100 or less if i can find one on eBay or some other outlet which would greatly increase the power of my computer for me (I only play WoW, BF2, and CoD4 on it so its not a beast of a machine)
until my new rig is all set up.
Anyways, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated !
Edit: If I can find a nice FX or X2 processor and flash my bios for it, and i can see a substantial difference I might put off building my new computer for another year. The games I play are really not all that demanding.

upgrading that system to a dual core would help it out alot but good luck finding one of those dual core skt 939 chips. Last time I looked they were ludacrously expensive (I saw one site offering an X2 4400 for over $300) if you can find one cheap on eBay that is working you should snap it up.
