Hi its been a while since ive been on here but lets get straight to the point. My mate, thinking he was getting a great deal bought a SilverCrest Wireless Multimedia Mouse & Keyboard for like 16, out of Lidl for all of you in the UK and to be honest, it worked great for about a month but then things started to go a bit wonky.

Firstly it has side buttons used for switching forward and back pages and like any mouse has a scroll button. The problem is that the scroll button turns the sounds up and down instead of scrolling and the forward and back buttons dont seem to do anything. Neither he nor me know what has happened. I thought it would have been the drivers so i re-installed them and configurred the buttons properly with no success. Being such a crappy brand its hard to find info on this hardware and when i do its all in german (i think)

Please if anyone could enlighten me on how to solve this problem i would be very gratefull as my mate pesters me day in day out instead of buying a new one.

Thanks very much,
Stu

Pretty surre you've already been to this site:

Honestly though, buying a cheap keyboard and mouse set IMO never works out in the long run, stick to the big guns like Logitech (my fave) or even Microsoft.

It's worth paying extra to ensure it'll still be working in 6 months.

Good luck.

PS worth uninstalling, and running CCleaner reg cleaner then reboot and re-install to ensure any corrupt reg entries are removed.

:(

I had a cheap Logitech that I bought as a temp keyboard that ended up lasting me for quite a few years.

Have you checked out the software that came with the set. Sometimes it is possible to allocate different buttons to different tasks. May just be a software 'glitch'.

The mouse has a media mode. When you hold down the dpi button for 3 seconds it changes all of the functions, eg. the scroll wheel becomes volume control. It sounds like you accidentally switched to media mode so just switch back to standard mode by holding down the "dpi" button for 3 seconds.

I bought a silvercrest keyboard & mouse some months ago and I was highly delighted with it. Last week I changed my computer. Unfortuneately when I disposed of my old computer I ionadvertantly left the mouse USB still inserted and now cannot retreive it. Can anyone tell me where I can get a SilverCrest mouse USB ?

I'm in the same boat as you mate. My niece borrowed my USB receiver and her mother's keyboard, also a silvercrest but different model. She "lost" both somehow.
I hoped that I could use the remaining receiver and keyboard together as they are both 2.4 ghz and both silvercrest but to no avail. So if you have any joy or someone has a brainwave and posts a reply then I too would be landed.
Thanks
