This is true. I'd like to see what benchmarks have to say of this, though.

You can either be part of the problem or be part of the solution.

Tom.... ummmm.... i dont think so... I took a look at Tom's GPU Q3 '08 chart and did a compare of 4850,4870,gtx260, and gtx280.... To me after a quick look... the 4870 and gtx260 doesnt look like as clear cut that your "stomps" implies... Its like they trade back and forth with a few good smack back at each other... I think when it comes to these two, it all boils down to price and what games you are interested in playing... Basically choose the card that will be more beneficial to as an overall basis.. even though the other card is just as capable... oh even the gtx280 had a hard time keeping ahead of the other three...

I might add, one of my caveats is having a system that I don't have to bitch with. So... I'm kind of going with ATI this round due to their driver roll-around time...

excellent choice good sir. i actually just got the same board in yesterday and i'm waiting on a couple of bucks to get a phenom 920 as well. i guess i'll be hitting you up once that happens so that i can get some overclocking tips ;)
why don't you get a Cooler Master HAF or a Cosmos S with the gigantic low RPM fan on the side keep every quiet and cool?

I don't think I'll be doing any overclocking, at least until I get a Core Contact Freezer CPU cooler and some of those Scythe SFF21E uber-quiet fans in the case. After that, then, hell yeah -- but keeping in mind, I'm a total n00b at overclocking. I've never once done it. :D

As for the case... I'm getting a Cosmos... so... I don't really see why I'd get a Cosmos S? What's the difference between the two? I mean, the vanilla Cosmos has all sorts of silencing features in it, like foam padded side panels and hard drive drawers with rubber grommets. I think the Cosmos S actually foregoes some of those silencing features. And the Cooler Master HAF... I mean, it's not bad looking... but it's kind of boxy and industrial looking -- which is just fine if that's the look you're going for, but I want a sort of a PowerMac look (without the gay). :D

im not sure about the silencing features disappearing but it has a gigantic 250mm low rpm fan in the middle of the side panel. so it'll keep everything cool and quiet. plus its mostly red and black so it looks badass. also, im kinda an overclocking noob as well so thats why we can compare notes. i talking my Nirvana out of my current build and adding it to my 920 for current cooling purposes until i get my hands on the Coolit A.L.C. Domino. then its blistering OC's for me :)

Ahh, see... that's where we disagree. I don't like the look of that red Cosmos, and I *really* don't like the look of that side fan, regardless of how gigantic and quiet it is. I LOVE the look of the vanilla Cosmos and, in fact, was hoping to get one that had a completely silver front panel door. Sadly, that one seems to have vanished from the 'egg. T_T

I can't even find it on Amazon... why, Cooler Master, why?!?
