Both AC Power and Battery doesn't work, please help me

6 months ago, my toshiba laptop battery dropped down to 0% and never re-charged, however, until late December I could still run it on AC power, but then it got to the point where it would never even turn on. So I thought the problem was the battery, so I got a new battery and it worked fine for an hour, except for one thing; It wouldn't recharge, and the AC power still wouldn't kick in. Please help, thanks.

Assuming you have checked the adaptor is working OK, check the socket on the motherboard. Use a magnifying glass and check the solder joints. I have seen so many dry joints on these.

trying to make sure I understand what u have tried....
If u already haven't do the following tests and tell me if any lights come on and if the laptop powers on....

1) no battery, only plug in your AC charger
2) no battery use your friends charger
3) battery in, your charger
4) battery in your friends charger.. Does it charge?

A laptop will work off AC with no battery in... If you boot it up with your friends charger and battery in, what does windows say your charge level is? Does it turn off when you pull out the charger with your battery in?

Same problem w/my Toshiba Satellite A105-S101 (7 years old).
First Toshiba battery was shot & replaced 4 years ago.
Best Buy installed 2nd battery under ext. warranty (NOT a Toshiba).
For past year the slightest jiggle of AC plugged in causes disconnection.
Bought 2nd AC adapter & it does the same thing - easily disconnects.
Now 2nd battery is shot, too - holds charge for ~ 2-3 min.

Ran out of options so now what?

A simple way to check the integrity of the battery is to remove it entirely and try plugging in the laptop. If the laptop powers on properly, the problem was likely a bum battery.

Make up your mind about laptop ac adapter >>
