  Internet Goes Out Same Time Everyday

Okay, So when I first got my internet (Qwest DSL) It was running excellent not a single outage or anything. After the first month or so the internet would go out all the time (most often at night) I kept calling Qwest tech support and they told me the same thing they always do (unplug modem and replug, delete internet settings, cache and the works, try rebooting your computer) < that will now be referred to as the Qwest dance. Still nothing changes. They do whatever it is they do on there end and it comes on for the remainder of the phone call then after I hang up it goes out again!

After multiple calls and doing the Qwest dance nothing changes. For the past month now it has settled down and goes out every day around either 3am or 4 am. and usually takes anywhere from half an hour to two hours before it'll finally stay connected. I've called them multiple times and they always say there's nothing wrong on their end so it must be mine. They said that they were going to change out their network card (or w/e it is) to see if that solves the problem, still didn't.

Here's what going on all day on my internet. Either on the comp or on Xbox Live.

Setup is the same as it is from day one when I had perfect connection.
Nothing has changed, haven't added phones, computers, new firewalls or anything.
I even reset all the configurations for both the modem and the router which I am hard wired to. I am running Windows XP.
I don't think that my modem is bad because it wouldn't go out at the same time everyday.
I can't threaten to leave my ISP cuz there is no other ISP's out where I live.
No there isn't any phone filters because I have no home phone.
I've called qwest while the internet was out. They still say there is no problem on there side.
I am using one of Qwests modems.
I have tried cutting the router out and just running an ethernet cable to computer and xbox, still no luck.
I've tired different phone cords and phone jacks, nothing.
Windows XP is supported by them.

So, what's going on? Please help. If you're a hardcore gamer or downloader then you know how bothersome this can be

I'm surprised none of you techys have answered yet :P Could it be a bad amplifier? Doesn't seem like it though since it happens around the same time.

Dont know but i have similar problem with comcast on the weekends

you should request they send a repairman over to your house. Maybe you have noise in your line or something. Also, you can try buying a nice modem to see if it improves the situation.

Or... maybe you just have a dreadfull ISP. It's even badder since they're the only Isp in the area. There's not much else you can do except request to speak to the manager for better service.

Yeah I would try a new modem. I live out in AZ and the Qwest internet service/support here sucks! (in my opinion)... If the modem doesn't fix it you can always return it.

I've thought about the modem, but if it was the modem it would go out all the time randomly not the same time everyday. When I get some money I'll try and see what happens. Speaking with a manager does nothing, I've tried that one twice. I've worked at call centers and still do currently. I know how the flow of things are supposed to go. Qwest does not follow that flow at all. When I first signed up I was told that they did not offer stand alone DSL that I absolutely had to have a phone line to get the internet, fine. I had a promotion in my hand for like half off for a year, the rep said it was expired, fine I know how promo's work. I asked if at any time i find another one can I call back and apply it to my account? "For Sure" "Absolutely" is what the rep said. So about 2-3 weeks after I sign up I found the same deal again. So I called back and asked to have it applied. Sorry, we can't do that. What? Sorry, we're not allowed to add promotions to an account, they're for new customers only. I would like to speak with your sup. I get transferred and the sup gives no budge, I told her that I have the phone call recorded with the rep telling me I can add promo at ANY time. (I really do have that call recorded too) She didn't care. Fine, I'll pay the full f**kin price simply because I have no other options for internet here. Later on is when the internet problems start. Long story short(er) rep says she'll send me out a new modem free of charge. At that same time I signed up to have my Verizon and Qwest bills merged or w/e so it's cheaper. A few weeks later I call (modem should have been there the following monday of that phone call) I call them up, they say that there was never a ticket for a replacement modem then offered to sell me one for 100. Right. I ask about the Verizon thing, they say it's not going to happen because the names don't match on the accounts. Well I had that phone call recorded too, rep said it didn't matter if the phone was under my name as long as I was authorized to make changes to the Verizon account (which I am) So I spoke with a manager and still gots**t done.

This may be an irrelevant comment but here in the UK, I have know some Sky and Freeview boxes, which update around 3 to 4am cause interference on wireless systems. May be worth a look in that direction? (Also some car radios take satnav updates and hardware firmware updates at around the same time. )
