Yeah the X52 is a great HOTAS :)

Did you notice the comments in the video you showed above of the guy using the Saitek PZ44 Yoke System and flying the 747. He has to fix that lag.

I got mine with a lag as well and about a 10 degree dead zone to the left. It appears to be a problem with Windows.

This is how I fixed the problem:

1. Install the Saitek drivers from the CD (other software is not needed), at least I did not use it. Disconnect the Yoke from the USB port.

2. Open the registry editor or regedit and go here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (CURRENT_USER if under VISTA)
System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Media Properties\Private Properties\DirectInput

3. Delete all values starting with VID_06A3

4. Now plug the yoke back in. Move all axis controls to all limits 4 times. In other words, turn yoke to all sides, push in, pull out, and also do the same with the throttle quadrant, go from min to max several times.

5. Now go back into Game Controllers in the Control Panel and click Properties to see the yoke, if you go to the deadzones tab, there should be none.

6. If you keep experiencing the problem, before playing Flight Simulator X, unplug the Yoke, and do steps 4-5.

This thing has worked fine for me. You can also adjust the sensitivity to your liking withing Flight simulator :)

Thanks Josh-that answered the question I had regarding that comment. I would like a good yoke but that lag in the video would be unacceptable for me. I'm glad to know it is fixable.

Nice...did you figure that out yourself....Jeeez.

Nothing worse then a DEADZONE....I hope I dont have that when I get my X52 Pro's, Have to say the F-18 missions are great in FSX. Man you cant beat a carrier landing in the F-18, gonna get a video up with that DANGER ZONE top gun music...LMAO.

Glad you got the deadzone fixed.

Quick question, How do you set up a free flight docked at the Airport gates so you have to pushback etc....or can you even do that?

You can chose a runway or to taxi from the main screen at start up.
What I do is tho, is the plane to gates my self with slew mode. Save it,
and reload next time. It's been a while since i done that automatically from
FSX Menu tho. I'll have to check that out tonight.

....I'm back, but only as a part-timer... :)

I'm afraid their definition of affordable differs somewhat from mine. Affordable maybe for a real-life 737/747 Captain.

Im trying to find the ATR 42 and also the ATR 72 but with VC (Virtual Cockpit).

Also, just to start a new discussion, do you guys know of any commercial aircraft with no crash history?

Can only find one for FS2004 .......!!!

As for commercial airlines with no crashes not yet...but funny enough my own national carrier AER LINGUS has a near perfect track record. As far as I can find out it has only ever had 2 crashes in its history but in the very early 1950's so its as good as you are gonna get I think. Then again we are a very small nation so if you compared us with a much larger nation with say 10 crashes that would be just as good.

You can type in the carrier on this website to get details....

I found a few, some of them having very realistic turbo prop sounds, I was very impressed, but no VC :(

That's what I love about these planes, is the sound of the propellers and they are also nice to fly :)

I have to say, after getting the PZ44 my flying has improved dramatically. When I used to have the joystick I would constantly make adjustments to stay lined up when landing, with the Yoke, once I am aligned that's it! Its all smooth after that. I re-did the flying tutorials and I have passed all of them very easily now.

Now I need the rudder pedals :) I already feel like being in an airplane with all these switches and quadrants around me, can't imagine what it will feel like once I get the pedals :)

what exactly have you got now control wise? do you have extra panels n stuff.

BTW josh, I found a great app for getting the best from FSX if you have a nvidia card. Download nHancer its a great app for nvidia user. You MUST have a driver later then 182.xx and .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 (should have this for FSX in anyway) and there are great tutorials for setting it up.

This is exactly what I got: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826102008

With shipping and everything the final price was $130 in Amazon.

Thanks for sharing nHancer, I will give it a shot as soon as I am done moving to another location. Moving is the reason I have delayed my responses.

Thanks again man.

I'm not all that clued up about this nhancer plug. It looks just the same as the
nvid 3d settings control panel?

Yes Tam, its along the same lines but its more geared towards games. It made a huge difference to my setup. The FPS are more stable now and the game "FEELS" better allround.

There is a link I have for setting up FSX aswell...I will try to find it in my bookmarks....

Cool. I'm on my break just now, so I'll also have a look at the nhancer page
to see what it's all about....

EDIT:

So it's like Nvid's own GLOBAL SETTINGS? But this application forces those particular
settings? I've never got Nvid's Global Settings to work - I don't think??
Basically with Nhancer, I can create settings individually?

Yes, its much more professional. Like V SYNC on but FORCE the Open GL buffer....little things that make it much better to run.

Like if you force AA and AF in the Nvidia Panel it does nothing but slow the game down. If you do it in the nHancer bullet profile it nHances it (See what I did there!!!!)

I am looking for the link I used to set it up.
