Hello, everyone. I’m having a bit of trouble with the Logitech MX1100 wireless laser mouse. After about a day of use, I started to experience lag in the responsiveness of the cursor. This would during the following:
Audio Editing (Nuendo, Sound Forge, Adobe Audition 1.5, Audacity)
Photo Editing (Photoshop)
Video Editing (Sony Vegas 8 Pro)
Internet surfing; browsers used: Firefox 3.5, Safari 4 and Internet Explorer 8
Exploring the computer
The lag occurs when I try to make slow, precise movements. It seems as if I lose connection for about five seconds. I experience this problem in Windows XP SP 2 32-bit and Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP 2. The battery in the mouse is fully charged, I’ve downloaded the latest drivers and software from Logitech’s Site, I’ve adjusted numerous dpi settings, swapped usb ports and I have swapped between OS and SetPoint controlled. This lag occurs when I use a mouse pad; however, it never occurs when I place the mouse on my wood desk surface. I’ve tried two different mouse pads: dark blue and black (standard pads). Neither of foster a lag-free cursor. I have had some moderate success with using a simple piece of white, blank paper. The lag is there but not as bad. While I don’t mind using my desk surface, I’d rather not since it will wear out the feet on the mouse more quickly.
Also, I’ve read that this mouse does not like a dark surface (wish I had read that before I bought a black mouse pad!). Does anyone have a good suggestion for a mouse pad that will work with this mouse?
Thanks in advance
Chad

Sounds like you need to get a mouse pad with the most reflective surface you can find. Maybe a glossy silver/grey.

Do you have or recently added any other wireless devices nearby...or a microwave or something interfering? How old is the mouse and is it plugged into a USB 2.0..

As the name says I am an expert on all things "Plug N Play".....:P

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! This is actually the wireless keyboard and mouse set by Logitech, the wave pro. It is the only wireless device on my system, near my system. It is not even two weeks old. It's plugged in usb 2.0.

Thanks for the quick help, everyone.

Well, I finally fixed the problem. My receiver was in the back of my desktop. I placed the receiver in a front usb port and all is well. My suggestion for anyone considering this mouse and keyboard set would be to purchase a usb extension cable so you can relocate the receiver if you experience stuttering problems.

I also purchased a steelseries I-2 glass surface mouse pad and installed the teflon mouse skates that came with the mouse pad. This has made my audio and video editing experience so much better.

Again, much thanks to all the very knowledgeable users here.

I had the same problem.
I even had lag in the keyboard, to the point were sometimes it wouldn't even type what I was trying to type.

The receiver was only about 40cm away at the back of the laptop, but then moved it close to the front of the laptop, and now works perfectly.

Thanks for the help.

You're welcome, Alex. I'm glad I could help. I really didn't want to get rid of this set since I liked it so much.
