Hi people, i have a Q6600 2.4 SLV cool version(you know what i mean) 2x 2gb OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz/PC2-8500 Blade Series Memory Kit CL5 2.1V with a Asus P5Ql-SE mobo. am trying to get the best clocks out of them(On stock), its easy clocking to 3gz thats just 333. i get 3 options on the dram freq 1266, 1022 and 835mhz. am not sure about chaning the freq on chip or dram. With the 3ghz and auto on all i run at about 51deg to 60 deg total temp with cpuid. Am really unsure about the frequencys of chip and ram. any sugestions on what settings on all to get full but safe performance and temp?????? much appreicated. sorry am a newb at clocking? or should i just leave it all at auto???

you should leave everything on auto and use a torture test like prime95 to ensure that everything is stable. Then start working from there. Either keep raising the overclock until you reach desired amount or just start decreasing the core voltage manually until you hit the spot, that will drastically reduce the cpu temps. Kepp working your way through and tinkle with the ram frequencies until you've achieved desired speeds and a stable system.

You should do a backup of important files just in case as you'll possibly be making the Os restart a lit due to it being unstable. *WARNING* there's chances of system damage, cpu burning yadadadada!

Friendly reminder just in case.

With that system you should be able to get to at least 3.4-3.5 without changing any volts at all. Just up the FSB and that's it.

Well I would take a totally different approach TBH. For a start just becoz you gottsa Q6600 (a super chip BTW) you are guarenteed nothing. All chips clock differently, what ever your FSB strap is set that as defualt. for you I am sure its 266...for me its 333 as I have a higher FSB. Lock the PCI-e to 100 and turn off all the CPU management like speedstep, vanderpool tech n s**t.

Get the tightest timmings your ram will boot at and then underclock the speed one step, then raise the FSB in 10mhz increments till it will not boot, go back one step and try again....if still no boot loosen the RAM timmings a tad. You will deffo have to give the CPU & RAM a slight Volts increase to be 100% stable.

COMPUTERS ARE NOT JUST MY LIFE...THEY ARE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THEN THAT.
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE....WE'RE ALL STOCKED UP HERE!!!!!!
