Hope someone can help.

When I hit the n key- an n appears but the cursor backs up to before the n.
when I hit the the y key y7 appears
when I hit the 7 key y7 appears

tried reinstalling driver- did not work

Any suggestions?

Have you try blowing/cleaning out keyboard with a can of compressed air? With those keys so close together could be some debris interfering with the function of those keys.
