Well after many an hours pleasure one of my memory modules f**ked up last night. I know have 3GB of RAM and 1GB module laughing at me.

But here is the cherry on top of the f**king cake....I got a lifetime warranty on the RAM when I bought it.....but the company CELLSHOCK have gone BUST and I cannot get a replacement, I have been offered a credit note of €32 euro....This RAM cost me well over €400 when I got it....what are my options here guys? Or am I up s**t creek without a paddle....

I have money to get another 4GB of DDR2 and try to sell the 3GB I have....but its not the point.

Which of these two sets would you guys prefer..the 1st set is 4x1GB modules and the heatsinks are not as good. The 2nd set is 2x2GB and the heatsinks are much better.

Do they still offer the warranty through a third party company?

EDIT: Their website doesn't seem to show them as out of business?

Go OCZ Plug, that way when anything goes wrong the warranty will come through and hopefully you don't have to worry about obscure companies going afloat no more lol.

LOL...yeah. But when I bought them I went for the D9x micron chips they have. I still am gaming on the 3GB and not too much difference in the two games I am playing but its not the point.

The reason the others are dear is becoz they are CL4 latency....I can get the CL5's for half that but the timmings are mad.

That sucks Plug, should check and see if anyone else has found a way to get in contact with them on other forums etc

Also, have you tried calling them?

I am not fluent in GERMAN.....LMAO. Its not worth the hassle. I will sell the other 3GB online and get a new set of higher bandwidth.

Here is the latest....I can get 8GB of OCZ for less then 4GB Geil Memory...and the timings are pretty much the same.....????

Here are the OCZ...I was gonna get 4GBx2.....8GB

Or

4GB of this.

Go with the OCZ then.

You'd notice shag all with the timings anyway, even with CAS5 modules - unless of course you like to sit down and benchmark memory modules all day :)

That Geil kit is a total rip off!

Save yourself the cash for something else, and sell the 3GB Cell Shock

I would prefer the CL4 dubs...especially when overclocking but yeah, I think I will get the 8GB OCZ and be total overkill....

They're still gonna go loose if you clock them much anyway, plus, there's not much need to clock your ram much, at least not for any perceivable benefit - unless as I said, you feel like sitting down all day running memory benchmarks!

Meh, not worth it to be honest. At least with OCZ you're guaranteed of a lifetime warranty.

100Mhz is hardly gonna make your rig any quicker tbh

Timings won't make a visual difference either tbh, unless of course you're watching the numbers in benchmarks :P

Timings would make a difference alrite, not 5-5-5-18 and 4-4-4-15 say...but a CL4 and CL5 latency by all accounts does. All the forums agree that CL4 latency RAM clocks and performs better the CL5 and above...thats why is dearer.

But I would prefer higher bandwidth at this stage and my board will take DDR2-1200, I would not go looking for new ram but since this "PROBLEM" was forced upon I must upgrade to better things.....lmao.
