for those of you who don't know what soldier front is, its a 1st/3rd person shooter (3rd view setting in it) that what you I do is kill people to complete certain objectives. Basically the A-typical shooting game. {([Website can be found when you google ijji.com])}

I can't play the game at all...

Or, to be more specific, I can log in, launch game and get as far as the load screen for a level. Then the game freezes or locks up (I don't which one) and I press Ctrl/Alt/Del and it says Soldier Front is not responding on the task manager. This happens no matter what I do, AND it only happens when I start a game :(.

I used to be able to play SF (soldier Front) "before" with the same computer no problem; Then my computer was infected (due to Norton's crappy protection) by a trojan that attack my .exe files and prevented me from logging on to my computer. I reloaded Windows XP, which resolved the problem, and got everything back (well almost everything, except junk files).

Before you guys say I need more RAM understand, my computer is Window XP media center with 1GB of ram and on-board (but as i learned, very crappy) graphics card.

I can play very demanding games such as Starcraft, and WoW on my computer but I can't play SF. Weird huh?

my internet connection is one to laugh at, so laugh. my house suppose to get 700 kilobytes a sec but we get a lowly 60-98 kilobytes a sec. But my ping is rarely the issue with these games [I've learned].

Thanks guys for reading this! sorry for long post, just trying to be thorough. Thanks!

PS I'm only 17 but I know a little about computers, but not a ton.

I think there's a million questions I could ask to try figure this one out but ill start with

Did you Repair or completely format and reinstall windows?

If you just repaired is it possible some files of the game is corrupted from this virus you mentioned it might be worth a re-download of the game from scratch for a starting point. Are other games currently running ok?

Having voices in your head is normal. Listening to them, common. Arguing, acceptable. However, when you lose the argument, you're in trouble.

Sounds like your game files got fubared when the rest of the crap hit the fan. The repair to windows (which I'm assuming you did) wouldn't have fixed those. Is there a repair option on the game ? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Also as the person above me asked did you completely format or just repair? If it was a full out format then my suggestions would likely be useless, but I expect that it was a repair for what you described.

PS: WoW is not a demanding game in the least. Just had to say it ><

Have you tried turning it off and on again ?

I completely reinstalled Windows XP. I assume that is a reformat. However I did keep my previous files because there was and option for it. I did have to reinstall my drivers as well as SF (probably due to registry changes). All my drivers seem to check out just fine. In my start menu, there is no repair file for SF.

PS 2nd answerer: I read in the WoW Forums from a topic a response by a WoW GM that WoW is a very "demanding and cutting edge game". This forum was about game freezes. GM might have just been spouting off a assumed belief I guess.

PSS all my other games (which is fair number like WoW) seem to run fine with the only difficulties being patch screwups by certain companies.

I would suggest completely removing SF from the add or remove programs and trying to install it again. Since it kept some files it is possible that a corrupt file was saved from the initial install.

I myself don't think that it is a hardware issues since you were playing it before. It may have to do with the former trojan and some files that still aren't working correctly. I'm not expert on fixing this type of issue by any means but...

I think you may want to fully format your hard drive, when you put the disk in and it gives your the drive you want to install to choose the option to first delete what is on that partition. I am ASSUMING that since it let you keep your files you just installed over the old (and corrupt one) and is still having some issues with some files or registry entries.

You may want to wait for someone else to suggest something else less dramatic but thats what I myself would do.

I was referring to your Windows XP disk - this will make you lose everything so make a back up of everything you want to keep.

If you decide to take this route.

OK its been awhile since I concerned myself with this, I now have a Nvidia 9400 gt graphics with up-to-date drivers and I completely wiped my hard drive and reloaded windows. I still get the freeze as soon as a game starts.

I have a 15mb fios connection, and it still freezes :( I can run League of Legends and DDO online no problem but this cursed fps is glitchy still :(

I suggest:
Open Reactor, click Soldier front
There are 3 things Game Start Repair and Create Shortcut
Click Repair (its under game start) If it still doesnt work completely remove soldierfront and IJJIReactor delete all the files that have anything to do with them. Open Disk Cleanup. Checkmark everything and click on delete. Then Restart your computer. Download and install IJJI Reactor and download and install Soldier Front. If it still doesnt work contact me and ill help you through messenger.
