I have a Sony VAIO VGN-CR205E. I've had it for almost two years.

The problem--
The laptop doesn't seem to recognize my AC adapter. I thought the adapter was the problem, so I bought a new one.

That doesn't seem to work, because when I plug it in, the battery icon on the laptop does not even light up or anything.

I'm guessing the problem is INSIDE the adapter port on the laptop?

Is there anything else I can do besides bringing it to a professional?

Most likely the solder on the connection to the adaptor has broken. If you take the battery out does it work...no?

I would deffo pop of the case and check the connections..its outside the warranty in anyway.

Yeah I took the battery out but the charger is still not being recognized. I'll try checking out the connections, and I'll post back any results here when if I find out what's wrong.

About a fortnight after getting this laptop, I noticed one day that the usual green AC power light was orange (running on battery only) - rebooted, same. Ended up taking the battery out and unplugging the AC power and holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

Stuck the battery back in and the AC and the system started recharging the battery!?!
