ahhhh... Ok...

Tam first off needs to get his system out of the heat hell hole beneath his desk..... he needs to get it out, say next to his desk, so as it is exposed to open air. Right now all that heat spewing out of the case is trapped under his desk and then being recirculated back into the case.... I would bet that he would get better overall temps if that case were to be out in the open...

Tam,

I have my rig back to 3.55Ghz and the temps are nearly identical...I started a game of L4D with my regular zombie killers and its last from 9 till 1am and the highest it went was 49c degrees.

Any update on your cooling...mate.

I cleaned the waterblock, and applied new AS5 and temps are about the same.
You have to bear in mind that I have an older CPU, and older MoBo (Commando)
different chipset, and it's been constantly OC'd since July 2007, and the system
is on 24/7. Also the cooling blocks, etc manufactured today might be more
adequate than what I bought 2 years ago.

When I first built this rig, and OC'd it, i was getting idle temps from 16c to 25c,
and stressed temps were in 40's. I guess wear and tear and 2 years of OC'ing is
finally catching up on the system. I've no probs with crashes, artifacts, etc. Everything's
running sweet.

When i'd the Q6600 B3 (was it B3?) the gaming temps (on air) were phenomenally
high like 80's. Unbelievable. But we all knew that revision was god awful and had heating
issues.

At this time, idle temps are 44, 39,39, 37 and gaming temps now are 50's & 60's.
I'm not all that bothered as long as it doesn't crash or clap out on me lol

I've never seen overclocking effect temperatures like that, I don't think that's possible. I've had several systems overclocked but had never seen the temps switch like that.

Tam,

Get your freaking case out of the cave from under that desk !!!! lol :P

or at least just pull the desk out from the wall temporarily... say a meter, so as there is open air above and around the case just to test to see if your overall temps goes down...

I changed the coolant completely (Smoothy Coolant) and used DangerDen coolant,
and low n behold. Playing Crysis with Rocket Launcher and constant shooting at
anything & everthing (like the benchmark) and temps are 44, 45, 38, 39 (on windowed Mode)
and looking pretty sweet. Compared to the 50's - 60c max from last night.

Looks like that Smoothy coolant was the main problem.

I took the loop off the 8800GTX as I want to sell it soon, so i put the original HSF Base
back on, and the air temps are as follows:

Idle:

GPU: 51c
GPU Diode: 60c
GPU Memory: 53c
GPU Ambient: 51

Under Stress:

GPU: 70c
GPU Diode: 73c
GPU Memory: 71c
GPU Ambient: 68c

Are those GPU temps ok for air? I' can 't remember what the air temps are
supposed to be since I've had this GPU on liquid for 2 years!
