I run two computers. My old back up pc got the new and always fun xppolice spy ware and another version of spy ware on it.

My pc just keeps freezing so the steps to remove these arnt working. I am trying to install this hdd (sata) into my main pc so i can scan it and hopefully remove the spy ware.

When i install the hdd on the main pc it shows up in bios, but through vista and diskmgmt.msc it shows up as cd rom F(no media). Thus i cant scan it. When you view the proporties of the F drive is shows 0 used and 0 free space, showing that it is a cdrom

Any ideas on what to do?

The old pc is a socket 939 and i am having trouble with getting the sata drivers onto a floppy, or i would just format, but at first the scanning of the hdd seemed easier.

Try going into disk management and assigning different drive letter eg X, Y or z to the drive.
Better still, buy one of those USB gadgets that enable you to access your disk through a USB port.

I had considered getting one of those external via usb cases to try this with, but i have 6 onboard sata and 2 external sata/power connection, so i figured that one of them should have worked.

Well, i left the hdd plugged into my main pc for a few days. I had rebooted the pc as well as let it sleep. Then just last night when it came out of sleep mode, vista recognised the hdd.... So idk what to say, but it is working now.
