Help, we have the above laptop which is well past the warranty date. the problems started with the laptop over heating and then switching off. Now today eth power light comes on when pressed then the laptop powers up for 5-10 secs and powers down for 5-10 secs and will not stop until you remove the battery pack. An yideas or is it just goosed. >:o

try taking a can of pressurize air... blow in both direction of the cooling path for the cpu. If you had not ever cleaned this area before.... it may be so clogged that the cpu is overheating. I have seen dust bunnies that it becomes thick felt that even using a can of pressurize air will not help that you would need to take it apart to pull the felt out. If you have two sticks of memory... try taking one of them out... they are either located both on the underside OR one on the underside and the other is below the keyboard. Maybe one of the memory is bad....
