I tried installing my Linksys wireless USB adapter (WUSB54GSC) today, but couldn't get it to work. It worked fine when I was running windows XP, but it seems that windows 7 doesn't support this device.

I tried installing the driver/software from the disc but it didnt work. The installation appeared to be finished, but the adapter was still "Unspecified" in Devices. So I tried downloading the latest drivers from Linksys and got the same result. (Both drivers are "Windows XP" versions, but the data sheet says it works with Vista??)

I googled the problem and found some similar situations in other forums. They tried a driver from Ralink (http://www.ralinktech.com) - the USB (RT2500USB) driver - and found it to work.. So I tried it and it didn't!

Is this thing simply incompatable with Windows 7

So I went to the device properties, went to the hardware tab, clicked change settings, went to the driver tab, clicked update driver, clicked seatch my computer / internet.. and BAM!

It worx!

Had to do it the old fashioned way...
