Yea Firefox. Supposed to be the bad ass browser. Hmmm...
Well my mouse scroll wheel has never been right since I installed firefox
months back. I tried in favour of Chrome - since something was up with chrome at the time.
Anyway, I thought my mouse wheel was fault/damaged or on its way out because it
doesn't really function when I surf in Firefox. I finally tried out some tests on Internet
Explorer, Google Chrome, and some Office 2007 docs and the mouse wheel works
perfectly.

So why am I having this issue only on firefox?
The mouse wheel is set within in OS to scroll 3 lines at a time. In firefox, this never happens
plus it bounces about randomly. I scroll down to bottom of page, and during the course
of this, it wants to go back up.

WTF?! Any ideas?

why dont you just uninstall FireFox and then reinstall it to see if that makes a difference ?

You might also see if manipulating the settings for scrolling within Firefox makes a difference.

tools>>options>>advanced>>general scrolling buttons

I've also seen similar mouse actions (especially random scrolling all around a web-page) when the batteries are low in a wireless mouse BEFORE I get any 'official' warning that the batteries are low. One would think it would affect all apps equally, but in my personal setup it seems much more noticeable/annoying when using Firefox and Word.

Other items to consider...Firefox may not play well with other mouse programs:
How the wheel is defined in the mouse handling application (e.g. intellimouse for an MS mouse) Try different scroll settings and see if it makes a difference.

Do you have active any third-party mouse functional enhancement programs you've forgotten?

edit to add: and of course, see if there are any similar problems listed in the Firefox support fora.
