Alright, so I have inherited a 60GB Maxtor hard drive that has Linux on it. I want to get rid of linux so that I can later install Windows. I do not, however, have the information to log into Linux on the new hard drive, and thus I do not really know how to format it. Any suggestions? Oh, and I also don't really know much about Linux, so I am a little bit limited there.

The also free MaxBlast utility from Maxtor/Seagate could also help.

For managing disks/partitions afterwards, freeware PartitionLogic is pretty decent...but has some limitations (described on main webpage). For example, it can't format NTFS but it can manipulate NTFS partitions.
