I'm sure it will work. From my experience Windows always detect almost any type of controller that it's plugged into it. And hey if the SNES USB adapter works then why not the ps2?

I don't know about those exact ones, but i have a PS2 controller adapter and it works a treat, there hasnt been a game that doesnt recognise it.

On a side note, if you have an old Xbox controller and a spare USB cable laying around you can make yourself a PC controller for pennies. This is of course you have wire strippers and splicing material (heatshrink and solder if you want a more finished look). I don't know about PS2 controllers but Xbox controllers are just a modified USB plug.

Yes, I've seen those work, but it was on a PS2 controller, not a PS1. I don't think that should matter, though.

Also, if you have a wired 360 controller, those will work too. You'll have to have drivers for XP, but for Vista, you shouldn't.
