I can log into Hotmail but not read any messages. There is a Javascript error message. I have no problem with Wyzo browser. I resinstalled IE8 but it made no difference. I also reinstalled the latest version of Java Runtime Environment after removing it and trying unsuccessfully to read my email messages. All options to allow Java and Java scripting are enabled and no other software is set to block Java or Java Scripting. I have run out of things to try so would appreciate any suggestions.

You could try Google Chrome Frame, which runs Google Chrome's rendering engine inside internet explorer:

Maybe that would clear up the problem?

Sounds strange I know but have you tried clicking on Compatibility View in IE 8 (up on the address bar next to the 'refresh' tool)

IE8 won't even install on my PC for some reason. Not like it really matters since I use Firefox anyways I suppose, but still weird.

I would be scared if you had to use compatibility mode to access Microsoft Hotmail via Microsoft Internet Explorer ...

It was just a suggestion, and we have yet to hear back from him what the result was.

I've seen this before. In my moms laptop, she couldn't even view youtube videos due to Javascript error.
I forgot what the hell I did to fix it. :~

you didn't specify which Operating System you're using. Let's assume it's Vista. You cna try this. Go to Start, Control Panel, Internet Properties, Advanced tab, and click Reset on the bottom, which will reset IE to its default condition.

Try that and see how it goes.

Many thanks to all who replied to my request for help. I tried everything suggested and spent a lot of time Googling for information. It appears this is a common problem. None of the suggested fixed worked unfortunately.

When I originally installed the OS (Windows XP professional) and a few applications I made a backup of the partition using Paragon Disk Manager. I restored the partition and now all is well.
