I've had this computer for roughly a month. Today it was working fine. I took it to school, used it during class until it was about 40% battery, closed it to put it to sleep, and then brought it home. When I got home, I opened it and pressed the power on button to bring it back from sleep.

Now when I did this, the power light, and the charging light were on, by the hard-drive light would not turn on. I held the power to turn it off because it would not wake up. Now, when I press the power button, it makes the start-up sound, and all 3 lights turn on. Then after a few seconds the computer goes silent (except for the fan) and the 3rd light turns off. If I leave it like this, with the power and charging light on, it is getting rather hot.

I tried to take the adapter and battery off and hold the power button down, then reconnect things but it did not work. I tried to power it up with only the battery, no go. I tried to power it up with only the ac, no go.

Please help. Like I said, I've only had this for a month and this is happening.

Hmm I have a Sony Vaio FW290. As far as I know you need to press any key (not the power button) to wake up the machine from sleep. Try that.

I'm sorry to hear that, maybe you should contact Sony since you should be covered under warranty.
