no one said you can't run a 5800 for 5 months then upgrade to a 5900 series card. See good things come to those who don't have the cash to jump on a new cards on release day... er... I mean those who wait. :)

How much is this going to cost though? A f**kin' lot, I'll tell you that. The HD5870 costs enough already, much more than I would spend on a card.

XFX ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB

I say bring it on! hopefully the 59xx cards have 2GB of memory per GPU... If they do I'm so buying one.

They'll prolly top out at 5970 x2/5980 x2 and 5980 as a standalone card.

nvidia prolly have the usual 360-395gtx range

True. They should cut the price down on the 58xx series to make it worthwhile.

I wouldn't expect too many price cuts until nVidia starts shipping "fermi" parts in volume... AMD has a monopoly on DX11 hardware right now so they set the price where they want to not where market forces put them.

AMD is just taking advantage of Nvidia's lack of innovation by stealing as much marketshare as they can while they can. It is just a matter of time before Nvidia is back on top again (though it seems like it has been a while).

AMD is still in a s**t load of debt so good for them to be on the lead. But Nvidia still hasn't responded so this gets more interesting by the article.

Its more and more likely that it will be late Q1 2010 that Nvidia will have the DX11 cards, but I bet you you will see all the old stuff coimg out badged as new...like the Asus Mars card (dual 285's) that is about 15% then the 295....that could be thrown out as a stop gap etc...

As bungle said I dont give a f**k how much the 5870 x2 is along as its a single PCB I am having it, and sellin my 295. If not out I am getting a 5870 as it will only cost me half the price getting it in the U.S with the exchange rate.

I really hope they up the size of the frame buffer... Tweaking the graphics settings in GTA IV with its memory usage meter has shown me that I need 2GB of VRAM (per GPU that is :) )

The sad part is the hardest game you will have to run is still going to be Crysis! It almost makes having one of these new cards worthless at the moment. What good PC games are out or are coming out? I've been just playing the s**t of out PS3 because there's not one single PC game that interests me.
