I have my TV as my 2nd display, but the recommended resoultion is 1360 x 768, not 1366 x 768 (my TV's native). Is there a way I can somehow force the 1366 x 768 resolution? I've tried looking in windows display options and ati catalyst. Can't seem to figure it out.

Well in the Nvidia control panel you can create a custom resolution. Although honestly the difference between 1360x768 and 1366x768 is so little that I don't you'll notice a change even if you do change it to the tv's recommended resolution.

Yea i read somewhere about setting a custom resolution, but you can't with the ati ccc (or at least I couldn't find it??).

I didn't think it would be a big difference either, but when displayed on my tv, about an inch on each side is not visible. Half the task bar is gone, and i get a zoomed in look at the wallpaper.

I've been dealing with it for a while but its starting to bug me. I've dropped down to 1280 x 720 and thats too small.

Looks like Catalyst are having problems with Windows 7. Btw... Isn't October 22 the official release date of Windows 7?

I took a picture of the screen so you can get a better idea of whats happeneing:

See how it cuts off part of the taskbar? Its like because the resolution is just a little off, the entire scaling of the resolution is messed up. If I can somehow force 1366 x 768 I think it would fix it. I can't figure out how to do it in ATI CCC or windows.

:(

And yes I think Windows 7 comes out October 22nd.

Have you tried PowerStrip? I've read a few different posts on your problem and one gent was able to get his ati to 1365 x 768. Wonder if that software would help?

I will try PowerStrip when I get home from work today and let you know.

Advanced settings just give me the Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot, Color management tabs. Nothing that will let me change the resolution.

Your TV may also have VertSize/HorizSize or VertHeight/HorizWidth or similar controls. If you change the settings so the computer content "fits", it may or may not affect normal TV viewing in a way you can tolerate.

I've seen many TVs come pre-adjusted with the vert/horiz settings just a fraction off, so they clip off regular program content as well. A TV I purchased a few years ago, out of the box, cut-off almost 1/10 of the bottom of the picture...e.g. you often saw only the top tip of the channel 'bug' or scrolling info at the bottom of the screen. Similar thing for the width adjustment...it too cut-off part of the content.

Hmm yea I'll try that too.

Strange thing though, I tried doing an auto-adjust with my tv, but the option was greyed out. The only reason I can think why is because of the HDMI input. I am able to auto-adjust with VGA and composite (analog) connections. Weird.

I'll try the manual resize though, thats a good idea.

Ok well I tried PowerStrip.

It seemed like it would do the trick, but I couldn't figure the program out. I kept getting error messages and wasn't able to apply the settings. Idk if its because of Windows 7 or maybe my video card? Oh well. Confusing program.

Also, I tried to manually resize the screen, but that option was greyed out. Why do you think that is? Is it bc of the HDMI connection?

Did you try 1365 x 768 on PowerStrip? That's the only resolution that I read with which some had success regarding ati cards.

The other issue could be because of the HDMI, but I'm not sure. Does your television manufacturer have any info on this?

Yeah I couldn't get it to work.

I looked online to find information about why I cant adjust the image but couldn;t find anything. Oh well. :/

k0rny, you're welcome.

I'm not familiar with that PowerStrip program, but do you think that it is conflicting with your catalyst program? I wonder if you try to run PowerStrip without catalyst running if it will clear up those error messages?

Hey I think I figured out how to do it! I got a new 23" monitor, and when I first plugged it in the 1920 x 1080 resolution wasn't displaying right (wasn't filling the entire screen, sort of the opposite problem stated above). So I went into CCC, chose the display and went to configure, then to scaling options, and set it to 0% (overscan?).

I didn't try the same with the TV because it is too far away now to use as a 2nd monitor, but I think the (reversed) method above will solve my problem. :)
