Dude... Alcohol impares your judgement and motor skills SO MUCH MORE than marijuana.

Also, ALCOHOL has more "damaging neurological long-term effects", NOT marijuana! (HAVE YOU EVEN SMOKED IT??)

Technically, they both can cause long-term damage that is permanent, but that's assumed really. So, do you want cirrhosis of the liver, or neurological degradation? Quite a selection!

Another thing. I'm not sure waht you mean by OVERDO when you say it concerning marijuana. You can't overdose on it, and once you reach a certain point it wont even make you any higher. ALCOHOL is overDONE all the time. People are always getting "too drunk".

I don't want to nitpick, but technically, you can overdose on marijuana, but it's almost a redundancy because it's like this; I can die from overdosing on caffeine by eating over 2000 Hershey bars in one sitting. Logically, it just isn't possible to consume that much chocolate in a short enough period of time to die... if anything, you'd from diabetes first.

There aren't any studies on marijuana that prove that, but there are for alcohol.

AND

You'd have to smoke like twice your body weight to overdose (basically impossible). Sorry :P

It's a scam that I have to go pay some quack $150 for the certificate so I can buy medical pot instead of just getting a prescription from my doctor for free. So I end up having to buy street s**t and support cartels and a**holes growing it in national parks and f**king up the environment and s**t with pesticides and other crap. Man I got this lemon cream kush crap that smells like fruit the other day. 2 hits and i ran into a light pole on my bicycle. Although the 2 Norco's I took probably helped too. Ahnold (the gropenator) is talking about legalizing it. Cali is broke and pot is a $3 billion crop here so the tax base would be quite large. I'm sure the ethical growers would pony up if it got legalized.

You're correct on the overdose issue but just because there aren't studies that prove marijuana can be harmful, doesn't mean it's harmless.

While the specific effects may differ, the comparison to alcohol is, generally, apt. You wouldn't have any respect for someone who was drunk all day; someone who spent all day getting stoned is just as dumb and self destructive.

It makes absolutely no sense to me to waste resources on preventing it being used or sold when meth, crack, and heroin are so much more inherently dangerous. We need to make it like alcohol and educate people, honestly, on its effects.

Pro:
makes you feel good
makes music, food, sex, and visualizations awesome.
can occasionally help one gain new perspectives on various issues

Con:
possibly causes neurological damage
likely to make you fat and lazy
destroys short term memory
(I'm leaving the smoke issue out of this because there are superior methods of consumption)

Anyway, this is generally good news.

The people that sit around all day smoking weed, cigarettes, and/or drinking alcohol are obviosly demonstrating self destructive behavior. They know that it is physically, mentally, and socially damaging (it's really just a bad habit).

But when you compare marijuana to cigarettes and alcohol, when used recreationally/medicinally, marijuana is much more safe and healthy (and a hell of a lot more fun).

Marijuana affects everyone differently. Some can function on it and some simply can't. Its the people that can't that are ruining it for us :~

I do agree with everything you said though.

K0rny, to assume that marijuana is more safe than other drugs or tobacco without scientific studies is irrelevant. Although, I'm sure that if it is legalized there will be tons of studies to prove of the benefits and hazards it provides. Honestly though I just don't see this happening, especially on marijuana being legalized to be consumed like cigarettes. It's all about how to educate the a**holes who are passing laws and don't know s**t about it. For instance, I saw this documentary (very good btw) which is called Bigger, Stronger, Faster: The side effect of being American and was about steroid use and how the media has "educated" people to believe the things they do. You guys should give it a look, it portrays the scandals of the MLA on steroids, from bodybuilders (go figure) to Olympic Athletes! American Athletes too! The origins of steroids, very well explained and fun to follow. Hoe it affects the male body and the female body. The dangers of it if used incorrectly. How supplements can be sold without passing FDA approval and tons of stuff. From Hulk Hogan to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Give it a go!
