Who is getting the shot and who isn't? What is your opinion on the matter?

I'm currently 60/40 on the subject myself. That is, 60% for not getting the shot, and 40% for getting it.

I've read too many disturbing things about its side-effects and harmful acts to the immune system and the body. The vaccine contains high levels of Mercury and Thimerosal(known to increase chances of Autism and erect other under-lying conditions). Of course on the other hand, H1N1 is most likely to threaten people between 18-35 with healthy immune systems - which would be my age group. This strain of H1N1 will not doubt cause several deaths during the next few years and I would prefer not to be one of them. I agree that the media has perhaps blown this out of proportion, but nonetheless, we must be aware of what the effects of H1N1 actually are and what we can do against it. It is saddening to me that the government would rather produce and provide mediocre vaccines when they could be shipping vaccines free of harmful agents. Granted, it's more costly - but isn't it worth it in the end?

I work at a health clinic so since it put me into a high risk group and the vaccine was available I got it.

It was a nasal mist rather than a shot, all I had to do was inhale while they sprayed a little stuff in my nose and that was it. I got a bit of a sore throat and was pretty tired like I was coming down with a cold the next day but it was gone by that evening.

f**k that! I'd rather suffer, than get some unknown disorder or even die from what
scientists would think is an antidote to some form of Flu ie swine flu.

I knew a guy who got the flu jab in the afternoon, and died later that night.

I'm not getting it. Save my dose for some poor person. Besides, the H1N1 flu isn't really as bad as a regular flu and I got my regular shot last week. The H1N1 has whipped across my college campus but no one died and almost everyone who got it was back in class after a couple days.

I've never gotten a flu shot in my life, and I'm not planning on it. Piggy flu or not. I'm actually a little sick right now, but it's good for the immune system.

Agreed. I have been exposed to an array of assorted STD's by your mom, they build character as well.

I've never taken Antibiotics for over 15yrs. That's when I decided I'd rather let my immune
system take control. Same for Flu jabs. Yes, an antidote's a great way to cure ONLY if
the virus is known already. Not just based on assumption... what a world...

Hmm, I'm the opposite. I take all kinds of medicine, even if it's unlabeled and I don't know what it is or does. It has to do something ...

Tam I think I'm with you on this, I was like other people who took pills for anything they came up with, but the last couple of times I've let my immune system deal with it and I feel better in a sort of way, stronger you might say. I just gotta eat enough and keep hydrated and my body will take care of the rest.

It seems most people aren't taking this too seriously in my area, stating that 'it's just the flu'. Yeah well, it's a flu that kills people! I am a little paranoid about it to be honest.

Yeah right...it's overhyped. If I get it, I'll just go to the hospital and ask for morphine.

I take care of my old man who's 84. I don't know if he could handle it, so I'm getting it as I'm around a lot of school age kids when I go visit my son every week or so. I've got a doc appt tomorrow and they say they are supposed to be getting it tomorrow. I'll be damned if I am gonna wait in some multi hr. long line though.

I don't go to the quack unless I don't know whats going on, no point in going to get anti biotics for some glorified flu. When I do go though I do all the stuff they tell me to do, I haven't got a medical degree, and i'm fairly certain they're trying to help me.

As for the vaccine.. personally i'd take it. f**k that 0.00001% chance and live on the edge!
