Well the 1st thing I would look at is the GPU you are currently using....will it have the grunt to power the games at a native res of 1920x1200. Maybe you are doing the upgrade the wrong way around. Get a high end GPU and then upgarde the TFT.

I mean you have a very nice rig with a UBER overclock on the CPU, I bet that current GPU is prolly a slight bottleneck for a 4ghz C2D....having said that if you do upgrade to a high end GPU you might have to upgrade that PSu also.....HEY, no one said it would be easy!

I would rather play games maxed out on a 19" CRT then water them down on a 24" TFT...but I have to say you will be blown away by the difference between a 19" and a 24" TFT...I still remember when I changed over...it was AWESOME!

Only you will know how your current GPU is performing and at what settings so you have to make the call.

But just something to bare in mind.

COMPUTERS ARE NOT JUST MY LIFE...THEY ARE MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THEN THAT.

Iv got an LG 26" Flatron that has treated me very well over the last year. It has only had one issue and it was a single dead pixel but ever since i apllied some pressure on it it hasnt been a problem.

>> Re: help chose a 24" LCD display to replace my 19" crt
If i had a choice i would not get a new monitor but im moving my keyboard, mouse, headset and primary display 15m from my box in the laundry to the lounge (i have started playn aion and my wife will leave me if im locked away in the laundy all the time and my comp is so noisy with that air cooling i cant just relocate to the lounge).

We are renovating at the same time so i am allowed a new monitor. I have got a usb to cat converter and some 3.5mm extension and an audio switch. i currntly have my lcd tv hooked to my comp 15m away in the lounge on a dvi cable.

I want any monitor LCD recomendations from 19"-24". i care about display quality more than size. I just love my old crt with its wide range of res. it also does a very high res aswell but I usually use 1600x1200.

thanks for your input any more would be awesome aswell.

also mothow is that samsung alot different from the one i mentioned at the start the 2350

Cheers

Yeah its an 8 bit panel C-PVA and much better viewing angles. F2380 178/178 vs 160/160 on the P2350.

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/office/monitors/professiona...prd_detail

The Samsung F2380 23" 16:9 widescreen LCD displays feature cPVA technology, for accurate image performance and professional-caliber color. With 100% support of sRGB color mode and 178º viewing angles, the color will be smooth and accurate to everyone gathered around your screen. High 3,000:1 static contrast ratio provides subtle transitions in shadows and details in the whites and blacks. The 2.5 mm bezel-to-screen depth and the 15 mm ultra-narrow bezel combine to give you an even, virtually seamless display area when tiling multiple displays. And the Tilt / Swivel / Pivot / 130 mm height-adjustable stands add comfort, while the F2380 offers 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Yeah that LG should be awesome for gaming with 2ms.But it is a TN panel. If you can find a Dell 2209wa for a good price you might want to look into that if you dont mind 22 inch. This a great monitor for gaming .I f**king love mine. The e-IPS panel is 8bit 178/178 viewing angles.personally i dont like 16:9 monitors but it does seem they are getting popular even for gaming

go for the 24" LG.... from out of those choices you listed.

Plus, after you use it for a good while..... anything smaller than this will be noticably smaller. To me.... a 24" seems to be the perfect size. Now just think.... the wow factor of having 6 x 24" hooked up to 2 X HD5870 in a ATI EyeFinity setup.... cooooL

I would say the 22"/23" 1920x1200 (or 1080) would be the way to go. The higher the DPI the better.

whats the difference here
http://www.lge.com/au/it-products/monitors/LG-wide-screen-moni...53V-PF.jsp
lower res 1920x1080, brightness 300
better contrast 50000:1 and response time 2ms

http://www.lge.com/au/it-products/monitors/LG-wide-screen-moni...WHX-BN.jsp
higher res 1920x1200, brightness 400
lower contrast 5000:1 and response time 5ms

is that L-246WHX-BN suitable for gaming.

50000:1 sounds alot better 5000:1 or is it just a have

if not il go for the 23" version of the w2453v-pf, the w2353v-pf

If it's me I'm going with the W2453V-PF because of the contrast ratio and 2ms response time. You will likely not notice 1920x1200 compared to 1920x1080 as it's hardly a difference.

But you may see the difference in 2ms compared to 5ms and 50000:1 compared to 5000:1. Also the W2453V-PF is a much better looking monitor.

WARNING!!!!1

Do not pay to much attention the the speed of the panel in milli sec's, most of the time its a gimmick. Concentrate on the type of panel as mothow suggested, also the policy of dead pixels from the play you buy it.

If you get a good panel the ms rating will go hand in hand.....I know I always say this but the panel I have is very very good and I am sure you can still get them but for alot cheaper, and I never had a single bit of trouble out of this panel. It has whats called PERFECT MOTION technology for ghosting but I never used it once as there is none.
