Looks like a good build to me, Mike. I especially like the monitor and case. That case shouldn't have much trouble keeping things cool with those fans. Would you consider water cooling?

Thanks Chad, I would love to have this system - he is lucky. I have updated the CPU heatsink. It appears to be great for a low price. I do not believe we will go with water cooling on this one.

It's a way to save money and still get great performance. He will be overclocking it anyways.

Why would I care if he has a better PC? Am I going to build him a worse one? How could a Q6600 be better than an i5-750 and a HD5850? That is the question, lmao.

I had heard a bit about the i5 processors, but I never really thought about reading into them until your post. Thanks for peaking my interest to learn :)

From the bit that I've read, that seems to be a good choice cost wise. Does your friend already have a keyboard and mouse combo? I was just wondering because I didn't see one in your post.

I believe he's going to buy the mouse and keyboard in store rather than online, that way you can usually test it out.

I believe we're just about ready to order the parts. There are no HD 5850 cards in stock from any store that we can find, and when they do come into stock, they sell in a split second. We've decided to go for a HD4870 due to the low price while offering good performance. I figure once DX11 actually gets implemented properly he can buy a new card at that time if he chooses, but this should last until then without issue. It really wish he could get a HD5850 but it looks like it's not an option unfortunately.
