I own a Leadtek 9800GT and currently getting between 85 and 95 degrees celcius at Load...
To me that just seems abit unsafe...
and when idle im getting between 65 and 75 degrees celcius

Is it safe to run it like this? should i maybe look at getting some aftermarket cooling?
If so then whats the best to go with?

You have to take into consideration alot more then just temps off the components mate, from your flag I take it you live in a very warm climate that must factor into the equation also.....

It is hot but not excessively so....what is your case cooling setup. I would deffo try to get a side panel fan or even leave the side of the case off and see if that helps......also download an app called riva tuner and make sure the fan is actually working 100%

my cpu temp is between 36 and 55 degrees and system temp is always at around 45 degrees.. i have a gigabyte isolo case.. which has a huge mesh grid on the side.. no fan but the mesh would make me think that its a place for the heat to get out.. i have a 120mm intake fan in the front and a 120mm extractor fan at the back... and i have before run my system with the case open... and it doesnt make a difference.

i do have riva tuner installed and running.. and when idle fan sits at 50% and at load ranges between 74% and 100%

Keep the fan at 100% always then. Maybe even buy a new GPU-HSF. The standard
inhouse GPU HSF's are usually crap anyways mate.

As Plug said, you most also consider your ambient temperature. Also, is your video card overclocked in any way? My 8800gt hovers over 88c temps when gaming but you should be getting lower temperatures since from what I understand all 9800gt are a smaller die size than the 8800gt, unless of course you have a high overclock on the video card.

95 degrees to me seems like pushing it a little but 85 is pretty normal for a video card.

I would be thinking that if you have fan sucking on the front and blowing out the back...you are sucking more warm air in the side. I think you would be better of with a solid side panel not that you are gonna buy one now. Remember hot air rises up not horizontally so IMHO you are adding to the heat with a mesh and no fan.....is there any chance you can stick a fan on there...
