Okay guys, I know you can install two nic cards in one pc and use it as router. My question is can you install more than two nic cards and connect multiple pcs through that computer.

Configured correctly I cant see it being a problem at all..... infact there's a fair few Linux Firewall/Router distributions that should be able to do that no problem.

You'd definitely want to run that as a Linux or BSD server, but yep, what Shawn said.

A lot of routers are basically that -- an embedded system running Linux.

Assuming you have a modem plugged into your PC giving you net access.... then yes, look up ICS (Internet Connection Sharing for windows obviously)

It works, sweet! It works with a wireless connection too so I didn't NEED the extra network card, but I installed it anyway cuz its a lot faster. This link helped:
