I was doing a recovery on my laptop when my computer was unplugged I lost power to my laptop and it seems to have gotten stuck right in the middle of the process i cannot do anything to finish the process or restart the process. I tried everything but still cannot get it to work it ran perfect before and didn't have any problems with it till now

Can you at least get to safe mode? If so, try a system restore. Also, can you give more specs about your laptop, it will help out a ton.

I'm thinking maybe to reformat is the key, if you have important data you need to backup then you can try to create another partition on the drive and install windows XP there, then just backup the files you need and delete everything unneeded.

when i try to run in safe mode the computer tells me that setup cannot run under safe mode and tells me that setup will restart now and gives me the option of ok so when i hit ok it seems as if its going to restart but then it goes back to the process where it left off at which shows a blue screen and tells me the file asms on windows xp home edition service pack 2 cd is needed then tells me to type the path where the file is located and gives me the option of ok but with the cd in the computer and clicking ok it will not respond. Just some specks it is a compaq presario v4000 (EC336UA#ABA) system board# 308c bios f.13 processor type intel (r) celeron(r) m cpu processor speed 1400 MHz total memory 512 MB video memory up to 128 MB

my computer is telling me that a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to my computer (unmountable boot volume) it also says that if problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as catching or shadowing then select safe mode and restart. How do i do this
