I bought these cheap speakers at a yard sale today for $1. They were missing the power cable but, hey, it's $1! So I figured I would go to the manufacturers website to see if I can find a new cable. Problem is, I can't for the life of me find out what company made them.

The only identifying mark is the company logo. The logo is simply a large, lowercase 'i' partially surrounded by and partially covering a stylized semicircle. It looks a lot like the logo from the Pixar move The Incredibles. I have seen this logo many times before but after hours of meditation and internet searching, I CANT FIGURE OUT WHERE! I swear I have even owned one of their products before. This is so frustrating! It's not Creative, Logitech, Genius, Intellitech, or iRiver. Please Help!

Incidentally, do anyone of you Americans have a spare 120v AC to 17.5v DC converter they don't need laying around?

You might try looking for Cambridge logos instead of Creative.

17.5VDC is a pretty odd DC voltage for such speakers.

However, they may work well enough for your needs on anything from 12VDC to 18VDC. I'd suggest using a power "module" that handles at least 500mA. Although the speakers will probably produce maximum output with a higher current power module. The current rating and polarity is usually also included near the power input.

You may already have some power modules on hand that you can test to see if they'll work with this. I've got a similar pair of powered "shelf" mini-speakers from Creative. While they work fine with a 500mA power module, the input is rated at 850mA maximum.

BE SURE TO MATCH THE POLARITY between the power module plug and the speaker power input jack. I'm guessing it's probably a coaxial plug.

If it helps the guy get better sound from someone's PC I'd like to think it has some merit.

It's not that I much care for the $1 speakers but its the fact that I know I have seen that company logo before and I can't put my finger onto it that is driving me crazy. And thanks for the info, John Albrich, I will try some of the old orphaned adapters in my house to see of any fit/work.

I was looking at the possibility that IOgear had changed their logo, but I cant find any evidence that theyve ever made speakers

Thats the exact logo I had in my head, but I have no idea who it is. I think it was a couple Christmases ago I got a keyboard/mouse combo that was branded that. It was a piece of crap, I think who ever got it for me got it at Walmart for $10.

They are probably just some cheap Chinese brand that is not well known that sells most of their stuff in Walmart or KMart. I can't say I have ever seen anything with that logo on it though.

Well I found an old 12v 1a adapter that works fine. The speakers sound great and now I have 4.1 setup. I will not, however, cease my attempts to identify the manufacturer. I may even crack open the units to find some model number or something inside.

I FOUND OUT!

All this talk of Walmart led me to go to their website and browse their keyboard and mice section. I looked for whatever brand started with an "i" and I found it!

iConcepts!
http://www.sakar.com/images/resources/detail/logos/sized/iconcepts.jpg

I never heard of them which is perplexing because that logo is so familiar!

The logo isn't an 'i' and a circle, It's an 'i' and a 'c'!

Mystery solved.
