I bought an eVGA 680 SLI a while back. It has an E6850 OC'd to 3.6 Ghz, and 2 x 1GB ballistix.

I also have 2x2GB of Patriot 6400 4 4 4 12. I would like to use all 6gb for my W7 install.

What is likely to happen if I just stick the Patriot in there? It's been tested with memtest, no issues.

Just install it, if it wont boot, then you know there is a problem. It should work fine with all 4 sticks.

With hard core gaming and doing about anything you wont even use 4 gigs (and win 7 64 bit). Unless you are doing video editing, i would just use the 2x2 (4 gig) this will ensure a smoother running system as most ram is used along with your mobo's chipset.(less apt to crash).

Yes I'd be worried about crashes, but you'll never know until you tried it. I'm trying the same thing as you Reason, I just bought 2x2gb of OCZ SLI DDR2 800mhz Ram from eBay for $74 which is a tad expensive but I had to do it now since they were sold out even on newegg! And I actually paid $120 for 2gb when I built this PC, so it didn't hurt that much.

I have the same set but in the 2gb setup and I'm planning to add the new 2x2gb sticks when they arrive and hopefully I won't get any trouble with them since they're practically the same.
