Attempting to reinstall XP on my computer with a new hard drive. Installation runs fine until 13 minutes remaining when the screen flickers briefly, as if a screen were being displayed too briefly to be read. The install then proceeds to '9 Minutes Remaining'. At this point the computer crashes. No messages, just reboots the computer and restarts the installation process.
I have tried two different hard drives, removing everything except the motherboard, hard drive, and DVD drive and messing with the BIOS every way I can think of. Nothing works.
Note that before my old hard drive crapped out, I was running XP on it fine, from the same install disc. When I installed it a couple of years ago, I had the same problem but solved it by ensuring that the system boot sequence was 1)floppy, 2)Hard drive 3)CD.
That is not solving the problem this time.
Any help would be appreciated. This is particularly frustrating because the problem waits until juuuuuuuuust before I am finished to screw me.

Sorry, no joy.
I tried re-seating the ram, also switching them around.
I tried cleaning the original install disc (i used the old tooth paste trick)
This time it got to 5 minutes, then rebooted back to the start.
Well, the good news is that I got XP installed and running fine.
The (mildly) bad news is how.
Basically, I just kept shifting stuff around and changing settings until it worked. No clue why this particular arrangement works and others didn't, but I can't really complain.
I AM noting down EVERY detail about my current setup, so next time I can hopefully avoid the grief.8)
