Looking for a legitimate WinXPpro installation package (preferably not including SP3. In fact an install package not including any SPx would be fine as I can then pick and choose everything I want to slipstream).

I've tried to derive my own slipstream install for my "everyday" personal OEM-configured XPpro system using derivatives of the "rescue" CDs provided with the system* but so far no joy.

It's been an experiment more than anything else and I'm giving up for now, so I need to create my slipstream models using an actual XP pro install...and the best net price I've seen so far lately from a source I'd trust, like newegg, for a legitimate package is just insanity.

So, I'm hoping someone has a copy of WinXPpro they no longer need because they've installed new versions (not upgrades**) of Vista or Win7.

(yeah....I know someday I need to build my own personal system instead of just doing so for others...but it's an extravagance I just can't justify at this point when the machine currently does everything I need it to do and does so pretty much problem free. I of course do backups but I'd like to try some super-clean install variants (without any possibility of OEM crapware remnants) on the machine, compare some benchmarks, see what happens for awhile on this machine, etc.)

*What started this off was I found some different sets of instructions that purport to produce a viable set of standard crapware-excluding install discs derived from an OEM-configured WinXPpro system...which would be terrific...but so far they haven't succeeded in creating anything that loads for more than about 40 seconds without crapping out at different points in the process. Even a dozen logical variations I've tried on the instructions fail to yield a viable install CD, and the project has lost the initial sense of adventure.

**Windows upgrades almost always seem to void the license of the preceding base OS version, and I definitely want legitimate.

Sorry about the multiple edits...standard drugs, pain, and vision issues involved.

John what about installing the OEM , then uninstall the bloatware etc and make a ghost image that you can just run over your network if you ever want to reload etc?

I've tried that. Seems there's always some bit of "bloat" left hiding in the filesystem, registry, etc. Every time I think I've found it all, I find some more the next time I look. Even the bloatware-specific removal tools aren't always 100% effective...e.g. Norton "stuff".

Defo interested only in XP Pro, plus I want there to be no questioning possible legitimate copy issues.

The keys are have are the official Windows XP Certificate of Authenticity stickers from various Dell, eMachines, Gateway, etc PC's. My family gives me all of their old computers after they upgrade so I usually rip off the COA first thing (I don't really have a million, I have around 15 or so).

I do have a couple XP PRO product keys (COA's), but no XP PRO install discs.

Well let's see...

Carbon credits? I could plant a small shrub or water some flowers in your name. (Please tell Al...maybe his MegaCarbonCorp will buy me out for a few mil? Of course, someone could instead show up in the dead of night and stomp me into a little smudge of locked carbon...)

Cash? My discretionary budget for non-essentials is pretty limited this time of year, but I could consider any reasonable amount.

Trade? Probably don't have anything interesting at the moment. I sold some goodies to buy presents.

You'd be able to take credit for slowing "The Bill's" take-over-the-world plans for a few femto-seconds? (Except he wouldn't have got any revenue anyway as this is a purely non-mandatory thing...but like a politician you could still take credit for fighting "evil".)

My continued charming presence, technical advice, and pithy commentary on HWA?

Suspending my continued charming presence, technical advice, and pithy commentary on HWA?

Whooaaa! Easy there John I meant it as a joke. But wtf! I could've sworn I wrote another paragraph! Smells like Orc mischief to me! >:o

Well John, what I thought I wrote was that I could get you a legitimate free product key. I could grab one from the MSDNAA software alliance and e-mail it to you. You have to download the WindowsXPPro ISO and burn it but they do give you the link to download. So let me know man, I don't care for trades or thats**t I was joking above.
