My current cell phone contract of 3 years is about to expire and I am looking at a new plan and phone. Mostly the phone, though. I haven't done any research on phones other than the iPhone of course. My current phone is a Razer V3 and I'm damn sick of it. I don't need anything real fancy, though I'd like it to be of high quality and have quite a few features. I will not by an iPhone. Can anyone recommend some good phones to check out?

I will figure out that plan and all of that, but I just need to know which phones are good and which are not. Here is a list of hardware that my mobile provider offers:

Try the link now, should be working.

I have been reading up a bit. The HTC phones seem to be pretty good, since they are anywhere from $629-899.

http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=37114&vpn=Touch%20P...acture=HTC

The HTC Touch Pro 2 seems to be really good and Telus offers me this deal:

'HTC Touch Pro2 - Promotional Pricing of $99.99 on a 3 year term ***Subject to minimum data & voice plan requirements.'

And also the HTC Hero:

'HTC Hero - Promotional Pricing of $49.99 on a 3 year term ***Subject to minimum data & voice plan requirements.'

How does the LG IQ compare to these phones? If I can get a $899 phone for $99 that would be great lol.

I have a tin can with some good yarn that does the trick. Text messaging on it is a bitch, however.

Whenever I'm on the lookout for a new phone, I use http://www.gsmarena.com

Not only does it have detailed technical reviews on every phone, past, present and (not too distant) future, but it has this really handy 'Compare' feature, allowing you to see two phones side-by-side on the same page for easy comparison. This combined with the 'Find Phone' search engine, which allows you to search for phones based on what features they have, makes it ideal for whay you're doing here.

I use an HTC P6500 (AKA Sedna) BTW, and can heartily recommend it; 3G, WiFi, 2xSD slots (max 32Gb in each), GPS, MP3 player - Not sure what else I'd ever need, although it's quite heavy, so I'd advise seeing one in the flesh so to speak before you got it.

Paying more than 30 bucks for a phone is a ripoff.

$600-800 for a phone? Oh my Lord Jesus Christ. I think we need the second coming right now to set some failboats on the path of righteousness.

wtf is the point of paying that much if in a year they're more useless than an old videocard?

Yes it's atrocious how high the price those POS that actually cost 70 to 90% less to make.

Michale buy an iPhone. It's about the only good thing to have come out of Apple. Plus you'll jailbreak it in time and get access to thousands of useless apps that you can play around with until the contract expires. Seriously I consider the iPhone to be the best PDA/ cell phone on the market. Oh, the Verizon Droid also seems cool but I saw some videos on youtube and the touchscreen didn't seem as smooth as the iPhone.

In the end it's all about what you want the cell phone for. Games, puzzles, GPS and silly apps for free *cough* pirate *cough* or just to talk with friends and family.

Yeah those phone prices are retarded, luckily with a 3-year contract, they're basically free. The HTC HD2 and the Motorola Droid are far ahead of the competition, but they aren't options for me since Telus does not offer them, god damnit.

I really hate Apple and don't want an iPhone, so the the Touch Pro 2 looks just as good or better. The only problem with it is that I would need to buy an SD card for it as it doesn't have any internal memory like the iPhone.

I hate Apple too, but in reality, and seriously, the iPhone is great piece of kit.

I just don't think I can handle iTunes, it's such a piece ofs**t. I've used an iPhone and didn't really think it was all that. It's just an iPod Touch with a phone. I just wish I could get a HTC HD2 :(

I'll warn you now. Don't get a smartphone if you don't need the features.

Intel Q6600 @ 3.1 GHz | Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 | 2GB OCZ DDR2 800 mhz | Seagate 320 GB | AuzenTech X-Fi Forte 7.1

I have an HTC Touch and don't like it that much (was only $10 though). Touch screens in general suck IMO. Not sure how different the newer ones are.
