Seeing as Sander etc have pretty much given up on this website for unknown reasons I think we should start writing our own reviews/articales instead

I will gladly do this BUT I am limited by the fact that i do not have a gaming PC for reviewing games and hardware components.

There are plenty of people on this site that have decent gaming rigs and plenty of games to review. If some of us can find a few hours a week to do a review every now and then it would surely boost this sites rep a bit.

I understand that reviewing CPU's, video cards etc can take a bit of time with benchmarks, overclocking etc but it would make interesting reading.

I can do reviews on pretty much only software and games ( XBOX limited ) and can not include multiplayer in my reviews. I can also do reviews on laptops I work with each day at work

Plug etc you have decent rigs and games that you could do reviews/articles on, but I guess finding time can be hard to do this

But seeing as Sander etc don't do anything anymore, we certainly should.

This is our forum/site, so we might as well do something to help it, because its slowly dying here

This has been brought up a number of times and I think it's actually time we do this.

Who is in?

I have spoken to Vitaly a few times about doing this as I was interested in writing articles on different things.

He said to come up with topics before hand and let him know the details of what you are planning to write so he could approve that it would be good for the site, which I believe is reasonable.

I can write reviews on many different products that I personally own if necessary. We should have people write up some stuff about stuff that is yet to be released(Fermi for example).

People that will be writing articles should set a goal, 1-2 articles per every 2 weeks. That should balance out nicely.

I'd love to review the latest games, but I haven't had a machine capable of playing the latest games since about 2003. :~

However, I would be able and willing to do general software reviews. :) And I would offer to review my new laptop if I ever get one ... but I'll be buying a last-gen laptop (current gen laptops are out of my price range).

Also ... a simple suggestion: too many times, when I see a user review of something in a forum, the title is something like: OMG this is a cool game!, which doesn't tell a Google searcher much. I think we should have a standardized thread title, something like: [HWA User Review] BioShock 2, which is helpful if found via Google.

And maybe an HWA User Reviews section, with Games, Applications, Hardware, etc. subforums ...

^ Exactly. We'll need a whole new subsection in the forum.

Unfortunately I won't be making another build until I can base it around a SATA 6.0 Gbps SSD. The newest thing I have is my MacBook Pro but it's been reviewed to no end. I'd love to help but I have absolutely no desire for buying current products on the market due to my under-buffered wallet.

I second this! Let's get this forum going with some user created review and column articles. Let's do it! 8)

Just to add, I don't think these articles need to be very lengthy and in depth. With pictures insert will be great, though. Not everyone of us have unlimited amount of time, expertise and cash, but something is better than nothing!!

Well I actually do this part time TBH...reviews for games. I dont get paid in cash I get the games to keep, sadly when my 5970 had to be RMA'ed I did not get to review for a while and I only got a replacement this week......however I will be back in the saddle soon.

So far I have reviewed about 8 games that was published online...its only an amateur site but its good fun and I was getting games for free. I have some of the reviews saved if you lot want to slate me I will post them. I aint very good but I like playing games so talking about them is the next step.....

I think meats of evil seen a few of the reviews....If I remember correctly, he will back me up...

Ok so this would definitely work and it would be a lot easier and better if... Mcfly's Greasemonkey scripts were implemented onto the website. I would like for everyone to view photobucket pictures on the post and not have to click a link and be redirected to see a picture nor have an add-on plus the script needed to see them. I think it would be a great idea if we could also have those animated graphic charts, That way it would motivate to really test things properly.

And throw a change Letter size in as well.

This site is great and extremely clean, but if we are to do good reviews we'll need the proper tools!

Hi,

Like I've mentioned to a few people who inquired about this - if you write a quality article it can be posted as a real "article" - not just a forum thread. You would then be able to embed images and proper links within it, would get proper "author" attribution, etc.

We would decide whether they would go into a separate article category or get mixed with other existing articles.

If you would like to do less-formal reviews then we could keep them as forum threads, in a separate forum if you like.

this website used to be a fun place years ago, I joined HWA many a Year ago but to be honest apart from the Forum it pretty much sucked, and to be honest also the forum has more or less died away a big bit also.

Years ago Im sure his name was Michael J Adams wanted to do a bit more on this website but if I remember this didn't go down to well so he left, I don't think Sander has given up on the website he never really tried to be honest, reviews were always out dated, this may have been due to the fact reviews etc etc were rarely refreshed.

if you clicked on the past reviews you could see reviews from about 3 years ago to present day and there wasn't many in between those 2 dates.

Last reviews was done on Friday, March 16, 2007 11:30 GMT, thats about 3 years ago, so I think we can see when the website was more or left to go on its knees and die.
