Hello,

I want to buy AOC F22 monitor ( http://www.aocmonitor-anz.com/lcd_monitor/f22.php ), but I've a doubt about it: it'll stand right in front of my face, on my line of sight, but on all of the pictures of it, it stands with an angle, looking up. Can I adjust its rear support, so it'll stand right vertically?

Thanks!

The easiest way to find out is to find another site selling it, or to find more pictures of the monitor.

Here is a link and from clicking on and looking at the pictures, it does have a lot of movement to it, so it can sit wherever you want it to.

micro, where are you seeing this "lots of movement" in the Newegg pics?

From the looks of that stand, it looks like you have to have it angled like that. Otherwise it would just topple over.

You could wall mount it, if that's possible in your setup. That would make it point directly to your face (it would be parallel to the wall / perpendicular to your desk).

Or you could get a monitor with a proper stand.

That's the worst stand ever. You can't rotate, you can't pivot, and you can't even adjust tilt angle too much.

I've seen similar stands for small LCD TVs in stores. I played with it one time in the store, you rotate the outer part of stand "shaft" to extend the length of the "shaft", hence adjusting the tilt angle to be closer to 90 degree (but you can never get to that). It's barely enough to support the weight and stability of the monitor. It's a manufacturer's tactic to saving cost.

Gladly the monitor you're looking at do have the 4 screw holes for mounting to another stand.

It's called the "Single Post Stand", see product description in the link below.
http://us.aoc.com/monitor_display/f22

Instruction Manuals:
http://support.aocmonitorap.com/userguide/f22/English/v-01.htm
http://support.aocmonitorap.com/userguide/f22/English/v-03.htm

Last link shows how the stand works. The stand only gives 12 degrees of freedom for adjustment! It can never be adjust to full vertical (max 87 degrees), just as I think. What a POS! You seriously need to think about secondary stand/mount, if you decided to buy this thing.

Great, folks! Thanks for the help!

It's for my Dad, so I'll let him decide. In other case I'd certainly choose another monitor with a normal stand, but in that price I can only get normal 19'' display, and this one is 21.5'' and with very good performance.
Another con. it has is the glossy surface. I'm afraid the reflection of me and the room will annoy and disturb.
Does anyone have an experience with glossy displays?

Personally, I hate glossy displays, but it all depends on the lighting in the room. If you've got a window or an overheard light directly behind where you're sitting, you will probably see a lot of glare. Otherwise, it might be okay for a desktop display.

Laptops (where the lighting conditions around you change as you take the laptop places) are where glossy displays really suck.
