All the nice tools like dvin_lite will not work on NT/2000/XP, because the direct access to the LPT is not allowed...
...So, I'm looking for a kind of LANC-Devicedriver (with a documented API). I guess, if so a freeware-driver would be available, there will be soon lots of good freeware tools on the web...
...OR, perhaps would it be a good idea, to build a lowcost, easy to build COM-LANC-interface?
My Idea was: If I connect a loopback-connector to COM1, I should read any data written to COM1 - and there should be no difference. If it would be possible to connect the cam somehow - any difference should be sent data from the cam - isn't it? With a com-solution, the silly 9600Bd timing would be done by the UART, so it's easyer to code, than a LPT driver. If it's possible to build such a lowcost-easytobuild connector, and if there would be a freeware API - I guess, the guy will become a good place in the "hall of fame". Soon will be a lot of good freeware available (e.g. remotecontrol via web, intelligent dump with a db for analysis, cam settings like dv-in, etc.)
I have some links about the LANC-Protocol-stuff on http://www.dvzone.de
(forum) - or send me a mail, so I will give you, what I've already collected...
Any Ideas how to build?
