I was just surfing the web and got this message on the right hand of the my screen:

'Xfire was bought by new owners today. Most of the team that has built Xfire over the last six years is leaving. We enjoyed working for you for the last 127 releases and wish we could stay to create the next 127. Good bye, good luck, and game on. --- The Xfire Team'.

Sucks for those guys!

Damn that's sad I enjoyed Xfire. Not so much using it but just knowing that it was available was enough to make me proud of their achievement. Too bad they're gone, I wonder if Steam community had anything to do with it. Honestly, the first time steam launched the community I had no need to use Xfire.

If they would open up an API for Steam Community to let other clients connect to it, even on a basic-IM level, I would use it. The way it's implemented now, fux it. I'll stick with Xfire.

To me Xfire is a good program overall. Hopefully they won't make any drastic changes to it.

The purchaser was Titan Gaming.
They've raised about $1M in venture capital recently.
Hmmm, looks like Viacom may have taken a bath on the $102M they paid back in '06.

While xfire was useful back in the day, like everyone says Steam has simply eclipsed it. Also, xfire has a sodding awful UI.

I agree. Though Xfire seemed more powerful and reliable, Steam just makes more sense.

I hate steam. I prefer Xfire over Steam any day of the week. Can't compare steam to x-fire
because Steam sells games as well as a gamer network, X-Fire is a 'network only' for users
who have games to connect to each other. And this is why I prefer X-fire.
It's simple and does what it says it does. Steam just complicates, and never runs 100% on
the servers. There always seems to be some fcuking issue that wastes your gaming hours.

....I'm back, but only as a part-timer... :)

I miss Tam's random conversations on Steam :( I always enjoyed them.

Plug just calls me a noob and invites me to play whatever he's playing.

P!RATE is always sexually harassing me.

K0rny drops in once in a while but I sometimes forget who he is with that weird ass nick he has.

Now, the one I haven't seen in a while is FingermeElmo, what happened to him? Wans't he in the Air Force or something? Hope he's ok

Oh and I sometime spot Mr.Bungle but he never replies. Always playing PLants vs Zombies and Borderlands lol.
