I must admit that I haven't given much thought to memory until my grand child got one of those mini laptops. I came with 1G of DDR3. Of course it wasn't enough for Mom so she asked me to change it for a 2G DDR2. Question is, will it work?

Tried it anyway. They look the same and fit the slot the same. The DDR2 causes errors when used in the DDR3 slots in the HP mini. So I've learned something and angered my Grand Lady.

God damnit, why did you even bother asking?

1: If I stab myself in the eye, will it hurt?
2: Yes
1: Tried it anyway.

And you're supposed to be a laptop repair guy? You don;t even know the difference between DDR2 and DDR3??

Its not like DDR3 is brand new or anything.

I think its more so the fact the the OP proclaims to be some sort of laptop technician, yet even after being told it doesn't work, tried to place DDR2 into DDR3 slots...

Hence the total derailing of the thread into an 'OMG you is stoopid' type of thing.

Sure what would HWA be if the regulars didn't take the pish out of people a lot of the time?

Dudes... don't forget this thread was brought back by a spammer, it's been months ago. Give Mr. Willie a break. It's just a classic case of Benjamin Franklin! ;)

Ben to himself: "WTF will happen if I fly a kite with a metal wire in a thunderstorm??"
Ben con'd: "Probably I will be f**king electrocuted..."
Ben decided: "Ah, f**k it! Let me try it anyway!"

http://www.fi.edu/franklin/scientst/electric.html

Gladly, he was ok after the kite experiment. Not only that, it led him to invent the lightning rod, a very important scientific invention.

So you see, Mr. Willie's memory fitting experiment, may have let him to discover new grounds in the vast scientific frontier! XD
