My A8N-SLI would not start - not even POST - following vacation return, and much testing suggests either mobo, cpu, or BIOS chip has left this world. Which means I need to rebuild, and fairly soon.

At present, I am planning an i950 processor on a Sabertooth mobo (about $500 total at this point). I need a minimum of 6 GB ram, but considering 12 GB (have 8 GB on my P5Q-E unit which I do max at times). Having trouble finding online the Asus manual and QVL for this board. This type reference material used to be available from the Asus site, but I have not found it yet. If you have a link I would appreciate that info.

If you are using this board, would you tell me what memory (model and amount) you are using successfully? I could start now with 6 GB, but would like to go for 12 GB in near future or now if budget will stretch. I have about $1000 worth of useless memory now from trials on the A8N-SLI build, so do not want to buy stuff that is incompatible. My first thought go toward Corsair (will never buy Crucial again) and GSkill, but not sure they are compatible with the board.

Any other comments about my build plan would also be welcome. Thank you.

Update -- I have now found and d/l the Asus' site reference material for the x58 Sabertooth. According to the QVL on devices, esentially nothing I have is useable... I can not believe my CD units & harddrives are not compatible.. plan to use them.

It does not list my video card either. I may in fact have to obtain a newer model, but I had hoped to use the one I have from the A8N-SLI build (eVGA 6800 Ultra) until the first of year to stretch out this unplanned expense.

Well, my inquiry is down to:
a. Any comments on brand, model, and amount of successfully used ram with this board,
b. Any other comments deemed appropriate.

Thanks again.
