Well, considering she was in there for less than 10 seconds, who's gonna help her? She was walking just fine when she got out, she wasn't hurt.

I love how they play it over and over, in slow-mo, from the additional angle, etc.

What an idiot. She gets a little wet, maybe bruises her shins, dunks her cel phone BECAUSE SHE WASN'T WATCHING WHERE SHE WAS WALKING. and now she wants to sue and put her name out there. Yesterday she was some poor anonymous sap absorbed in her cel phone, today she is Cathy Cruz Marrero, Fountain lady and Internet sensation! I hope it goes to court and the judge laughs in her face and gets her attorney disbarred.

LOL too true!

If people can't walk and text, its a surprise people try and drive while texting.

According to http://www.wfmz.com/berksnews/26544618/detail.html

"She said when it happened, she was completely embarrassed, but she did laugh to herself the next day."

Nothing about any meaningful injury.

From what I gather, she's suing because the mall security didn't appear instantaneously to see if she was hurt, even though she immediately got out and started walking away without any apparent impairment.
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGpVpsaItpU from about :15-:30.

"How unprofessional mall security was as to not send anybody to see how I was, I could have been really hurt."

I don't know that she even gave them time to do so before leaving...assuming they even saw the event in real-time.

But, I see that as similar to suing a city because an ambulance didn't show up immediately at your fender-bender to check for boo-boos...where no one was hurt.

What a muppet! She wants to sue for her stupidty, and gross negligence. Learn to look
occasionally. In fact, don't walk when you text ffs! I hope the judge throws the book at this
one and doesn't waste tax payers money.

I think her lawyer will maybe try to find out why the fountain was there in the first place,
and why it was in her way.

....I'm back, but only as a part-timer... :)

Nahh. They'll just end up getting fountains banned in all public places, especially malls. Either that or they have to be surrounded by an impenetrable 2 meter high fence covered with soft pillows and warning signs, and/or motion sensors that set off an "You are approaching a wall (or other dangerous feature)" warning recording and flashing lights (for deaf people).

Or, maybe they'll end up getting laws passed that require malls install "Textways" (TM). These are my invention of a moving walkway (with sidewalls of course) for use ONLY by people texting or browsing the web on their mobiles.

After all, the government must protect us from these terribly dangerous things that "could increase the cost of healthcare, therefore the government has an interest in regulating them".

What is she suing for again? Her feelings got hurt?

I loled at the video and her impulsive blinking which clearly means she's full ofs**t and just trying to get some money.

I just realized...

They've already got protocols in place that can disable your phone when you're moving "too" fast (like in a car). At the moment the "service" is voluntary (and costs about $5/month extra).

All they have to do is pass a law requiring cell phone carriers to disable your phone if you're MOVING AT ALL. That will make us all so much safer. They can even add yet another mandatory government "service fee" to the phone bill to pay for it.

Wow! I'm getting good at creating all these "We know what's best for you" laws.

Maybe I should run for Congress?

Safety is overrated. Keeping everyone safe means over population.

Turns out the lady apparently has multiple prior theft convictions, the latest being she was convicted of using a co-worker's credit card for $5000 worth of stuff from a couple of mall-type stores.

"She is set to be sentenced at her next court date, on April 21"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1349168/Texting-shoppe...arges.html

AND, re her complaint that security didn't respond immediately....
A security guard reported an on-the-scene maintenance worker approached her immediately and asked her if she was all right. She said YES.

"Paedro asked her if she is all right and she said: 'Yes - I'm just a little wet.'."

What a dumb f**k! May be next time, she will go for the pennies and nickels in the fountain. XD ;)

Lessons learned:
1. Do not text while walking, you may fall into a fountain, a sewage hole, or something worst. Pay attention to your surroundings.
2. It is not necessary to reveal your identity, if you get caught in a viral video, which no one can make out your appearance. You can open up a can of worms by doing so.

If that sign isn't a perfect, singularly brilliant comment on the current nanny state and legal system of several countries I could name, I don't know what is.

Problem #1:
Charles Tabasso, 14, [...] “As a parent I am definitely in favor of banning these things,” Tullia Tabasso said.

How about, oh, I dunno EXERTING SOME PARENTAL AUTHORITY IN ORDER TO KEEP YOUR OFFSPRING ALIVE?

Problem #2:
“When people are doing things that are detrimental to their own well being, then government should step in,” Kruger said.

“When people are doing things that are detrimental to their own well being, then nature will step in,” Reason said. "It's called evolution, and it can be quite harsh in application. In the case of illness it can be as unfair as life can be, but when it comes to sheer stupidity it's harder to make that argument. TLDR watch where the f**k you're going, smart guy."

FTFY, Kruger.
