I've never done this before lol.. I have temperature monitors though. Oh and if it dies horribly I finally buy a new computer so I can't lose.

I just want 200 extra mhz, that would be cool. do i just raise bus speed in the bios by 200 (in increments of 100)

It is a venice core and I have the msi k8 neo4 motherboard and 2x 1 gig sticks of memory. with dram speed of 201 mhz. Oh and windows xp sp3.
Thanks.

Try here its been so long i dont really remember what you need to do.Other than raising the FSB and adding a little voltage.

Also, if you get a program that can modify your CPU fan v. temp parameters that will also help keep things a LOT cooler.

I had a 3500+ CPU system some years ago. The machine came with a fairly stupid BIOS fan control subsystem with VERY limited user control.

By using freeware Speedfan, I was able to increase the base speed and the rate at which the fan speed increases for increases in CPU temps...it made the CPU run a LOT cooler at all times.

Speedfan works on a lot of computers, but you may run into glitches. They have a decent online forum. See the project webpage: http://almico.com/speedfan.php
You can also download speedfan from majorgeeks.com and other DL sites.

Eh, by going from 2.2Ghz to 2.4Ghz, you'll need to raise the HTT to 218Mhz~

This will now also run your ram at 218Mhz (436Mhz DDR) - so you'll want to ensure your ram can handle that, or use a lower ram divider.

This will also raise your HT Link to 2180 - which could lead to instability unless you reduce the HTT multi to 4x (should be 5x standard).

Wow, been a while since I worked on an A64 based rig, but they're the basics!

just lower the ht for those socket 939 chips it wont take a performance hit . when i had my 3500 i had it up to 2.7ghz i had to lower the ht . those amd chips wont take a hit in performance there not like intel where you lower the fsb there performance degrade .

I only got 100 extra, but it got me a few extra frames on me emulator.
I'm good for now cheers. Ill push it further on my holiday leave :)

Interesting notes about the fans, surely it can't be that hard to program, I wonder why they messed up so badly.
